More versatile than a workbench! Raise your work to the height you really want. The ShopStand adapts your jigs and vises to you, not the other way around.

More versatile than a workbench!
Repairman Dan Erlewine envisioned a swiveling, tilting, height-adjustable workstand for better access to his repair work. Our tool development wizard Don MacRostie added his own vision of the stand, as an adjustable column to hold quick-change jigs and fixtures for instrument building. The Erlewine ShopStand was the result, and it immediately proved its worth.

Raise your work to the height you really want. The ShopStand adjusts from 28" to 36" in height. It adapts to you, not the other way around.

Get complete access to your work. The ShopStand is an industrial-grade, free-standing unit that bolts to your shop floor. It's heavy-duty and rock-steady. It rotates with ball-bearing smoothness to any position you need, and locks in place quickly and easily. You can move completely around the job in progress, for faster, easier access without reclamping.

Gain extra space in your shop. Your workbench uses lots of floor space; the ShopStand has a small footprint. You can interchange your jigs as needed, and hang them on the wall when the work's done.

Maximum height 36"
Minimum height 27", with ball bearing column rotation
Base size 10" x 10" (floor bolts required)
Top plate size 8" x 5" (drilled and tapped to fit our Guitar Repair Vise)

Erlewine ShopStand is the perfect support for many of our tools. The ShopStand and Guitar Repair Vise Set a sturdy, money-saving, 360-degree swiveling tool combo! We've customized our vise to give it bearing-smooth operation that you won't find elsewhere.

Great product!

Wow, I'm so glad I finally ordered this one. Quite expensive though, if you're living outside the US (shipping costs, duties...). Still, I think it was well worth it.

One suggestion, though: why not supply it with a couple more holes for height adjustment, say 5 instead of 3?

A True "Must Have"

By Doctor Rokker from USA

You hear the term "Must Have" thrown around a lot, but I have a super small shop, less than 250 sq. ft., and this stand immediately became my favorite place to work from. I used flush mount "sidewalk bolts" to mount it because they cover the holes in the concrete at the multiple places I mount it in my shop. I'm considering getting rid of another one of my benches for a second one...

Great "Luxury" Shop Tool

By Rockin' Mike Burton from Canada

I bought the Erlewine Shop Stand, Angle Vise, and Neck Jig all together. The Stand increases the maneuverability of the Neck Jig, plus you could use the vise to actually mount a small guitar repair work table right to the shop stand and save room in the shop as well. I did not have a concrete floor in order to mount the stand base, so I bolted it to a 1 3/4" x 2' x 2' patio block as suggested, and it worked great! I also put a 3/4" piece of plywood and rubber mat underneath the patio block to protect the floor as well. My Shop Stand arrived with the adjusting wheel and bolt damaged and bent out of shape! When I mentioned it to Stew-Mac they sent me the replacement parts in just a few days! Stew-Mac has the best customer service I have ever seen! I wish other companies were this good to deal with!

Nice addition to a growing shop

I already have a few benches in my shop but they fill up quick. Adding the shop stand has brought some flexibility to my work area. If you plan to get the angle vise and build bases for various other tools (grinder, spindle sander, buffer, bench top) you'll find this is a great way to go. The tubes are thick & sturdy. The top is drilled & tapped to support the angle vise as well. I had to level off the metal the bearing rides on so it would turn smoothly but this was a 1 minute fix. Overall great offering. I could easily put a second shop stand in use but the cost will force me to get by with one.

Shop stand

This is a great stand. We hooked up to a cement block, as Dan suggested, and move it around without problems.

AWESOME!!!

This is a very well made product. My only issue is there is about 3/32 slop between the inner pipe and outer pipe which means there can be a little movement even when tightened down good. I plan on adding a thin platic sleeve around the bottom of the inner pipe to fix that. This stand is way better then a bench if you are lacking room. Worth every penny.
