These custom bolts are handy for temporarily mounting a bridge for certain tasks, before the bridge is glued onto the guitar.

Useful for:

  • Testing intonation
  • Testing string pull and soundboard arch
  • Testing the bridge thickness and saddle height
  • Resetting a neck to the correct alignment

Each bolt is drilled for a guitar string, the top edge is chamfered, and the bolt fits nicely into a bridge pin hole. The thumbnut is knurled to help make installation inside the guitar easy.

Brass, 8-32 thread, 1" long with knurled thumbnut and washer.
Package of 4. Two required per bridge.

Acoustic Bridge Bolts

By Donald Pearson from Oklahoma
(Customer's Reviews) Monday, July 01, 2013

They work as described by SM. I agree with another reviewer -- wing nuts would make it easier to install. I used them to turn a pin-bridge into a pinless-bridge. A little tricky to install new strings, but works ok (if you don't mind rather high treble sound).

What a great tool

I love these bolts. I teach a guitar building class and I use these to test the bridge placement for my students. Once we check the E strings, we can even use 6 of them to string the guitar so the student can hear the guitar. Then we can take the bridge off so they clear coat without the bridge on.

It works great, but maybe some wing nuts are needed.

Essential kit

By Colin from Cumbria, UK
(Customer's Reviews) Sunday, November 18, 2012

I just replaced one of those plastic bridges on a '64 Epiphone Caballero and these bolts made getting the intonation perfect before I glued the new one on. I reckon this must be the most useful bit of kit for the least money in the entire Stewmac catalogue.

Worked great on the kit I built

Straight Hole

Simple and useful things for strapping the bridge down before gluing and testing its position. I'm always impressed when drills make a straight hole especially in a screw!

great set-up tool

these nifty little bolts enabled me to position my bridge prior to finishing. I imagine I'll use them when it comes time to glue it down as well. Great idea!

Very handy

These are just the thing for certain bridge repair and gluing operations. I smiled recently when I read on some forum that Stew Mac mostly sells "gadgets that hobbyists like to fill their shops with." I have found that items such as these bolts improve my work, both in speed and quality. All the R&D has been done for us by Stew Mac and I have saved a ton of time just buying what is already available instead of trying to reinvent the wheel myself.

Playing prior to finish

By Geary--GR Guitars from Flagstaff, AZ  USA
(Customer's Reviews) Saturday, December 11, 2010

The guitar that we built at Kent Everett's "The Art Of Guitar" construction class, in October of this year, was actually strung up using the Acoustic Bridge Bolts before the finish was applied. They secured the bridge to the top with ease and we were able to bring the guitar to pitch and play it! This is truly a great invention. They can also be used to secure the bridge in place during glue-up.

Good for bridge re-glues

By GuitarRepairShack from Calgary, Alberta
(Customer's Reviews) Sunday, November 07, 2010

I use two of these for bridge re-glues. They keep the bridge from slipping and provide clamping strength used along with regular c-clamps. They do break after a lot of use but work great for me.
