Blush Eraser

About This Item

Eliminates the white clouding that appears when moisture is trapped in a new finish. Also useful for finish touch-up and repair.

When you spray a finish in humid conditions, a "blushed" (whitened) surface can occur when moisture becomes trapped in the finish. As soon as the blush appears, use Aerosol Blush Eraser to reflow the surface and free the trapped moisture. It preserves the clarity of the finish, and helps "melt-in" overspray after spot finish repairs, too. For use with nitrocellulose lacquer finishes only.

13-ounce aerosol spray can.

Very useful for touch-up work

Had a few mistakes on my first guitar finishing job. On StewMac's advice, I bought this initially to get rid of 'blushing' I accidentally created and thought the finish was ruined. It took care of the blushing easily and I also used it to clear up and even out some other later errors in tinted lacquer. It is great as a lacquer remover as well (as long as you are very careful) and gave me the chance for some 're-do's" and the guitar looked pretty good.

I think it's a must have on-hand in case you need to correct any lacquer runs, overspray or other issues.

Wow! Amazing results

I called Stewmac about my nitro finish turning a cloudy white and they told me it was blush. It's a problem in my area as we have fairly high humidity. I got this at their suggestion and it eliminated the blush in minutes. I actually watched it disappear! Highly recommended if you have this problem.

Awesome stuff

When I spray this, I go for a coat that looks like a "field of diamonds." Not wet, but not too dry. Works every time.

The humidity is pretty high where I work, and this has saved me more than a few times. A very quick spritz will make sure any blush will come out nice and easy without disturbing the finish that's already on there.

I do find it a little easier to use with the spraycan handles that Stewmac also sells. If I just use my fingertip I find it's easy to apply a little too much pressure and accidentally get a wet coat.

Watch out, will ruin your guitar

What this stuff does is not get the blush out, and make all the sweet work you did on your sunburst run together and make it look horrible.

I am new to all this and lost! Got moisture trapped in lacquer job and didn't know what to do. Not only did the staff recommend this amazing product, but took the time to explain why I had the issue, how to fix it, and how to avoid it in the future. I will buy all my products here!

Just go lightly

I made the mistake of putting this on too heavy and it wrinkled my lacquer clear coat, but that was my error. I used it lightly on other areas and it worked perfectly. Gets rid of blush and flows out what's there

Amazing Product

The humidity rose dramatically when I was spraying my 6th coat of nitrocellulose lacquer on the neck and body of a electric guitar I am building. Within an hour the moisture in the air created a milky, hazy cloud on all the sprayed surfaces. I thought my finish was ruined and all my hard work was for nothing. But I contacted Stew-Mac (they responded to my email really quick) and they suggested I apply Blush Eraser to the finish to correct it. I was totally skeptical but what did I have to lose at that point. I bought the stuff, applied it and within minutes, it completely eliminated the issue! The finish looks back to normal. What a phenomenal product! It even corrected some "lacquer spit" high spots. The blush eraser re-flows the lacquer giving the high spot a chance to settle smooth and that will save time in sanding. Blush Eraser is definitely a MUST HAVE product to have on hand for anyone building or finishing guitars.

Should be called nitro mistake eraser!

This stuff works for its intended purpose of erasing blush caused by spraying during high humidity, but it also does so much more! I used a heavier coat of it to blend in small fish eyes, bubbles, and drips, I re-softened an almost cured coat of clear to remove a trapped hair, and most recently I laid down a very light coat of it over my last coat of clear and it seemed to minimize orange peel! As someone who does guitar refinishing in my back yard, I will never spray nitro again without a can of this stuff handy.

I built a guitar for a customer while he was overseas. I went over it one last time because he was coming in 2 days to get it. Murphy's Law was right on time. I had 3 spots that had blushed. I gave them each a short shot of Blush Eraser and in no time it was gone. So I got out my Micro Pads from StewMac and got the shine right back where it should be. Thanks StewMac. Russ

This is a must have for anyone refinishing anything with lacquer. Most of my jobs are done in my garage, and in TN the humidity will kill you. This has saved more than one project.
