8" Radius Blocks

About This Item

Accurately true or change a fingerboard's radius and level frets.
We make these hardwood blocks for use with Stikit Abrasives, to radius a fretboard quickly, accurately and without guesswork.

Shaping fingerboards: use 80 through 220-grit
Leveling frets: use 220 through 400-grit

When working on compound radius fretboards, simply change blocks as you progress along the neck.

Dimensions: 8" (203.20mm) long x 2-3/4" (69.85mm) wide

See our shorter blocks for spot leveling, and for use as clamping cauls when gluing frets.

What's your radius?
Quickly find the curvature of a fingerboard or bridge with a set of radius gauges. Use them frequently to check your work as you smooth or shape a fingerboard or frets: a quick visual check keeps you from accidentally altering the shape—a mistake that's easy to make and hard to fix.

Overall good, but mine has a knot hole in the wood on the radius side. I wasn't happy about that but will deal with it. I have nearly everyone of the short ones, the longer ones are better.

Setup new guitar.for kids

Music teacher buys 6 cheap elec. guitars at a time for his class and brings them to me for setup. Block makes it quick and easy. First get the neck flat. Mark each fret. Lightly sand with block that matches neck . Chuck marks for high frets.level, crown, string to pitch , set relief at .010.set strings 2/32 at the 12th and let the kids 8 to 12 have fun .

Fret buzz on some high frets; 8" radius block helped.

I had fret buzz from some high frets. The 8" radius block helped some to reduce the buzz, but I need to use heavier sand paper to finish the job.

8" Radius Blocks

Besides leveling frets and fretboards, I use these to radius the top of my string nuts I install. It does a more uniform job than I could ever do with a shaping file.

Good Sanding Block

There's not much to say about a block of wood with a 16" radius. What you see is what you get. I know I could have made one for myself, but this is already made, so why not just buy it and not have to make it?

Handy

I used this yesterday to level out fret board and frets after installing.Though a bit on pricy side, worked quite nice. Better than any blocks hanging around the shop. I also used it it for clamping and gluing new fret board down, so I guess it paid for it's self.
