I am so glad I bought this book. I use it every day. I am reading, and re-reading it cover-to-cover. I find new nuggets every time I open it. I have several similar books, but this is the best.

I have an old edition of this guide, I will be getting the latest in addition to it but will keep both, the old edition is like an old friend. You will learn what your limitations are as it is as important to know what you SHOULDN'T do as well as what you can do. If you learn just the basic things you will save the cost of making mistakes and save a great deal of $$$ by doing most of the work yourself. Even if you don't attempt some of the things in this book it is a great reference.

Complete and Informative!

This is my go to book when I need an informative and complete reference on methods and techniques for building guitars or making repairs. We'll written and illustrated. It was even signed and dated by Dan Erlewine. Nice personal touch.

I didn't know how big this was going to be and was amazed. For the sheer size and amount of knowledge in this book it's an absolute bargain

Professionals and serious players should have this book...!

The combination of this book's text and the DVD presents a wealth of information that any professional or serious guitar player should have. Even if you don't plan on doing much more than setting up and maintaining your guitar, once you begin to read this book, you'll find yourself inspired to take things a little further than you planned, and Dan's encouraging you to do just that throughout the book..! It also gives you a much greater ability to communicate with your guitar tech/repair shop.

Dan will also let you know when the procedure is too complicated and is best left to an experienced repair person...either way, you really can't go wrong.

I have average fix-it skills and very little experience with guitar work so I was glad to read both the Repair Guide and How to Make Your Electric Guitar Play Great. I found both books easy to understand and clear enough to know what I will try and what is beyond my skill level. They will help me to know what needs to be done and who needs to do it. Shop tips are great too. All guide me to what tools I need to purchase. Thanks!
