Grover Ukulele Tuners with Long String Posts

About This Item

For ukes with thicker pegheads. Grover's popular guitar-style uke tuners feature slightly longer string posts, to accommodate pegheads over 7/16" thick (11.11mm).

A modern alternative for more precise tuning than traditional friction pegs.

2-left/2-right open-gear sets with 14:1 ratio, stamped baseplates and metal knobs. Press-fit peghead bushings and screws are included.

11/32"-diameter (8.73mm) pegholes required.

Grover ukulele tuners are also available with shorter posts, for pegheads up to 7/16" (11.11mm) thickness.

Grover Ukulele Tuners used in building Mountain Dulcimers

By

Verified Buyer

I custom design and build Appalachian (or Mountain) Dulcimers. I strive to build a quality product while keeping the cost as low as possible. The Grover Tuning machines have been my choice for the last two years and will remain so for a long time to come. I build both flat "guitar-type" pegheads as well as violin types and can easily use the Grovers on both. With a 14:1 ratio on their gearing they are easy to tune and tend to hold that tuning for a very long time. StewMac has always had these in stock and get them out to me quickly. Having used these tuners on over 30 instruments in the last two years, I have not had any complaints from any of my customers.

Replacing friction pegs with geared tuning machines

I have an older baritone ukulele made in 1963, with friction pegs. Over the past 5 years, the pegs have needed to be tightened more and more frequently. It got to be nearly every time I opened the case I had to tighten at least one or two of them. I decided to replace them with geared machines. This new set works very nicely, perhaps not quite as smooth as the sealed Grovers on one of my guitars, but very well. There are a couple of tools which make installation easier, the bushing reamer, andcthe correct sized drill for the screws holding the tuners on the head stock. I am pleased that Stew-Mac posts the drawing with the correct sized reamer and drills on the specs page for each set of tuning nachines they carry. Majes it simple to buy the right tools. All went well, with no "4 letter" exclamations.

... for a nice upgrade on my tenor ukulele. Great service and helpful suggestions for proper tuner bushings that fit my headstock and allowed for a perfect fit for these new tuners. Thanks Stew-Mac!

Replaced some friction tuners on a fifty year old Harmony Baritone Uke with these. They work great, much more stable, better tone. Great budget solution for me. Highly recommended!
