Vintage Grommet Tuner Bushing

About This Item

These press-fit grommets are direct replacements for the most common tuner post bushings used by Gibson, Kay, Harmony and many other makers between the 1940s-1960s.

The old original bushings often fell out and were lost, so we've created these with a slightly enlarged outer diameter so they stay in place better than the originals.

Relic finish options have an aged look, made to be a better match for your vintage guitar.

Large size: Fits string posts up to and including 1/4" diameter (typical for Gibson). For a perfect fit, use our #2066 Peghead Bushing Reamer to cut a clean, accurate counterbore.

Small size: Fits string posts up to and including 7/32" in 1/4" post holes (typical for Kay, Regal, Silvertone and many other "house brand" guitars). We recommend our Standard Peghole Reamer to cut smooth, perfectly round holes.

Sold individually.

Homemade bushing puller to protect the peghead

Dan Erlewine needs to pull the tuner grommets/bushings from the peghead of this old Gibson. The lacquer is already damaged, and pulling the bushings can yank finish off too. Dan rigs a jig that holds the finish down while the bushing comes up.

Wrong size

I thought these would fit a 1979 Höfner 12string, but they are too small. For the right guitar they are perfect. As of yet, I have not been able to find grommets to fit my guitar.

The right product, great service

I was looking for some replacement grommets for my old Harmony H165 before giving it to my budding-guitarist 11-year-old daughter, as a couple had fallen off over the years. These replacements look great and fit perfectly (and actually better than the originals), and came much faster than I expected - within just a few days. Thanks for the great service!

Perfect Fit for old Harmony

By

Verified Buyer

I bought these for my Harmony H945, there were a perfect fit. Tight, but slid right in. The original tuners work much better now (I was thinking of replacing them) and the reliced finish match the rest to the guitar. The only complaint was the higher (relative) price of shipping. The actual product is small and lightweight most of the shipping cost was for the catalogue. Actual product is great.

The mid-60s Kay Speed Demon I'm restoring was missing one bushing - the large relic brash bushings fit and look perfect

Excellent Fix on Slotted Headstock

By

Verified Buyer

These solved a difficult problem on a slotted headstock on a vintage Regal resonator guitar. The neck is made of poplar or other fairly soft wood. The headstock had been drilled out for Grover tuners. Putting it back to original style three-on-a-side tuners required filling the holes and redrilling, but in doing so, caused tearout that was a bear to fill neatly. I installed these on both sides of the slots from the inside of the slots, not only covering the tearout, but also providing better support for the long shafts of the tuners under string tension.

used these on a few of my vintage parlor guitars and did the job. The smallest one worked best for me.
