Grover Original Rotomatics (102 Series) 3+3 Tuners

About This Item

Popular since the '60s, Rotomatic tuners are now available in 2 gear ratios. For 3-left/3-right pegheads.

Rotomatic® full-size tuning machines feature large removable metal knobs with adjustable tension, cast gear housings and lifetime sealed lubrication. Sets of 6, for 3-left/3-right pegheads.

Mounting screws and threaded hex peghead bushings with washers are included. 10mm (13/32") diameter pegholes required.

For 6-in-line pegheads, see Grover Midsize and Mini tuning machines.

Installation Tips

Mounting screws: Pilot holes required. Installing delicate screws into hard wood requires great care and accuracy. We highly recommend the #1711 Depth-stop Drill Bit (No.50 bit) for the pilot hole before installing these screws. Lubricate the screw threads with cutting lubricant (also wax or a bar of soap) to reduce friction and help them thread properly.

great replacements, not as smooth and accurate as Gotoh 510s I've previously had on other guitars but half the price and feel great nonetheless!

Smooth Tuning

Used Rotomatic tuning machines on an early 2000s Takamine, (middle of the Takamine line; jumbo acoustic-electric cutaway. Guitar is played outside near beach so subject to corrosion in gears). Higher end Takamines may have a better tuning mechanism. I have an older Takamine with very good tuning machines. Rotomatics are smooth tuning. No drilling required.

I Have a Epi Les Paul that came with locking Grover's, (Long Shaft). I had broken one of the machine heads a year or more ago, made a repair to it, but it was never the same. I never did like the look of them anyway, even though they locked OK. The 102's are a direct replacement and they look correct, tuning up is smooth and solid. Thanks Stew Mac for the fast service.

Grover Rotomatics

I recently bought a nice acoustic in the mid price range. Nice sounding, Tasmanian Oak, Ebony fretboard and bridge with a fishman pickup and pre-amp. The only problem was the keeping it in tune. The tuners that I replaced looked like Grovers except the screw-hole was off by about a sixteenth. I plugged the holes and drilled new ones to fit the Grovers. The higher ratio of 18:1 did the trick. When I get the guitar out of the case now it's always in tune and stays in tune while I play. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Smooth, reliable and sound improving

I have installed the 18:1 ratio in gold finish on my Gibson SG-3. And that really made a difference. The tuning are much more smooth and precise. And the guitar stays in tune. But most of all. It is definitely a sound improvement. The guitar is now a better guitar (if possible). And I also think it compliment the overall look on the guitar. I have the same tuners on my Gibson Les Paul Custom from 1973. I definitely recommend these tuners.
