Gotoh Vintage Scalloped-knob 3+3 Tuning Machines

About This Item

These fine reproductions feature old style stamped gear housings, but have modern improved 15:1 gearing for smooth, precise action.

Nickel, for 3-left/3-right pegheads.

The "scalloped" knobs are the same as found on many vintage Martin and Gibson acoustic guitars.

All sets include mounting screws and press-fit peghead bushings. 11/32"-diameter pegholes required.

Installation Tips

Bushings: We recommend the #2062 Bushing Reamer (.340" diameter) to cut a clean, accurate counterbore for a professional job. Fit the press-fit tuner bushings correctly so your tuners will work smoothly.

Mounting screws: Pilot holes required. Installing delicate screws into hard wood requires great care and accuracy. We highly recommend the #1713 Depth-stop Drill Bit (No.44 bit) for the pilot hole before installing these screws. Lubricate the screw threads with cutting lubricant (also wax or a bar of soap) to reduce friction and help them thread properly.

Always Check ALL Dimensions

Verified Buyer

The Gotoh Vintage Tuning machines are first class. I neglected to check one dimension, and found they would not work on my Grand daughters guitar. The mounting holes matched perfectly, so no plugging and drilling were necessary. I was elated! Then I checked the post to find the string hole just barely cleared the head face. For some reason I never checked the "J" dimension in the catalog. It is .760, and I needed .875. My bad. Maybe I can use them on something someday. They are really neat robust tuners though, well worth the money.

Verified Buyer have to be creative. Had to buy two sets of these to get out one six-in-line set for an early 60s Fenton Weill Dualmaster. Tuners work and look great on that special guitar (with a set of conversion bushes by stewmac). I used stewmacs' #3361 tuner screws instead of the ones that came with the set, a perfectly fitting screwdriver, pre-drilled the holes with a 1,5mm bit and used a piece of (half-wet) soap for turning the screws in smoothly.

This tuners look vintage and the price is okay. The screws are bad, I had to replace them, and i don't like the 2 piece construction with a separate bushing....I lost one in my shop.

I've been screwed...

The tuners are great, well made and finished. But the screws are rubbish. Very very poor quality, I didn't want the screws to snap ( I know other people have had trouble with this) so I made sure everything was properly drilled, about half a turn off completing the first screw, it broke. I now have half a lousy screw stuck in the back of my nice new neck. If you buy these tuners (which I would do again) DON'T USE THE SCREWS THAT ARE SUPPLIED.
