Gotoh Staggered-Height 6-In-Line Tuners

About This Item

Eliminates string trees for better tuning.
With different string post heights, each string gets ideal downward tension behind the nut. No need for string tree hold-downs or their interference with vibratos.

Vintage-style stamped gear housings, oval metal knobs and smooth, precise operation.

"I've had these on my Strat for nearly 10 years, and couldn't be happier. Eliminating the string tree improved my tuning stability, even with a tremolo."
—Erick Coleman, guitar repairman and StewMac tech advisor

Love these!

Best staggered tuners for a Strat IMO. So far I have not installed string trees. Going to see how they perform after some playing and then I will decide if I need to install a string tree for the B/E string combo. I do believe a properly made nut, with minimal slot depth is the key here.

Surpassed My Expectations

These are great, tight, accurate tuners. I will be replacing the tuners with the Gotoh's on all of my telecasters. Great product.

No String Trees Needed!

They look great; imagine that, no string trees! I still like and use the regular Kluson style tuners with a string tree or two, but having some guitars without them is a beautiful option to put in the mix.

Amazing Tuning Stability on my CP 60s Strat!

Man these tuners are so good they nearly put themselves on. I had a standard vintage Gotoh set on the guitar but ended up with the G and B strings always going out of tune after barely any play. Now that I have removed the string tree and gone over the string nut slots with Big Bends Nut Sauce again(not to much)my CP 60's Strat sounds better than ever.

just what I needed

I have '62 reissue strat that I bought in early "80s. Every time I used the tremolo there went the tuning and intonation. Finally decked it gave up. Revisited the problem recently and tried to give trem a whirl again with same results. Friend suggested that tuning machines might be the problem. At his suggestion I bought the 15:1 ratio and it seems to have solved my problem to a point. Heavy usage still gives tuning issues but a total improvement over original tuners. Installation a breeze and they look the same as original. Happy Camper now!

Great tuners

By

These tuners work perfectly! They allow you to get away without using any string trees. The only issue I had installing was needing to use the bushings that came with them(very easy to do). The ones that were in the neck for normal vintage tuners were too small.

Great tuners, classic vintage look that do away with the need for string trees. High quality.

Gotoh Vintage Staggered Tuners

These tuners where to replace another brands faulty tuners. Due to already drilling the tuner holes I need the Gotoh bushing to make a firm fit. The tuners are of excellent quality and the guitar holds tune well. I like the staggered design which applies a good even tension on the nut. I recommend these tuners as a great vintage replacement or for a new build.

As usual, when I order something from Stewart-McDonald it comes quickly and is of high quality. The added feature is that you usually know exactly what you're going to get because of the well written and diagrammed documents on the website.

Good drop in replacement

By

Verified Buyer

For a 1-to-1 drop in replacement without modifications, this is a good tuner replacement. The only issue I had is that the ferrules that came with the new tuners outside diameter were a little small and did not fit right in the existing headstock holes so I had to reuse my existing ferrules.
