Economy Covered Gear 3+3 Tuners

About This Item

Inexpensive tuners are a quick and easy way to get your guitar up and strummin' again.

  • 14:1 ratio
  • Fit 5/16"-diameter pegholes
  • Press-fit bushings and screws included
  • Set of 6: 3 left, 3 right
  • Chrome

Installation Tips

Bushings: We recommend the #2061 Bushing Reamer (.328" diameter) to cut a clean, accurate counterbore for a professional job. Fit the press-fit tuner bushings correctly so your tuners will work smoothly.

Mounting screws: Pilot holes required. Installing delicate screws into hard wood requires great care and accuracy. We highly recommend the #1711 Depth-stop Drill Bit (No.50 bit) for the pilot hole before installing these screws. Lubricate the screw threads with cutting lubricant (also wax or a bar of soap) to reduce friction and help them thread properly.

I was hoping for better

Why can't anyone make a good direct replacement machine head for Epiphone guitars without having to drill or fill in holes on the headstock? StewMac would probably make more money selling a good tuner with this configuration then trying to sell all the tools to make a good tuner fit. Think of all the Guitar Center nubies that would order them.

A strong economy

I really love these tuners for one basic reason; they allow me to build instruments that may be experimental in their nature but don't break the bank. They hold the string tension extremely well, I've never had to fight with them to keep their tune which is all you really want. They also have fit the existing holes on one of my older guitars without having to make any modifications. They may not be gold plated or hand engraved, but they do the most important job you'll ask of them for a very reasonable price.

The right part for a Sigma

Hey ! They work.
These are the cheapest tuners in the universe and are exactly what are installed at the factory for many budget acoustics and electrics.
When a customer comes in with El Cheapo and it needs tuners it deserves the finest in cheap tuners which would be these !
If this is what you need , use them.

We've built several mountain dulcimers using these tuners. We've had a couple of them bind up like one other reviewer stated. We will keep using them, but I wish I could cull out the bad ones before they end up on an instrument.

I have made around 10 four string Mountain Dulcimers and these tuners work great on them. They keep in tune and are very easy to use.

Look elsewhere for an upgrade

Horrible screws and bottom-of-the-barrel tuners. If you're looking to upgrade your tuners, look elsewhere. If you were looking for a drop-in replacement for your old tuners, these are problematic. Go ahead and get good tuners and drill a hole, it's easy. I love all the Stew-Mac products I've purchased except for this one.
