Bushings

By Will from St-Colomban, QC  CAN
(Customer's Reviews) Friday, October 31, 2014

If, like me, you are converting from closed-back Gotoh/Grover/Schaller to these open-back styles, you need to order wider bushings ("tuner parts" section on Stew-Mac). I WISH Stew-Mac would put a caveat in the description of these tuners...not everyone measures before buying, or has luthier skills. I assumed it was a drop-in replacement, and now I'm stuck with another $20 in international shipping for a 10 dollar part. I made a temporary fit with teflon tape, but it is SO not cool on a $4,000 guitar.

BUT...these are smooth and pretty tuners on my customized HD 28. The 25 year old Schallers stripped a gear, and I was only too happy to upgrade to a retro open-back.

Photo attached...extra points if you can see my pyjamas in the shiny knobs!

The best guitar tuners

Don't waste your money on expensive tuners. These function much better for 1/4 of the price. Now if they could just start making more knob options!

Excellent tuners at a great price.

Replaced the original nickel tuners on my Martin 000-15M. This was a no-brainer removal and replacement. Use caution when removing the original bushings. These are excellent tuners smooth and stable in operation. There's just something about a touch of gold. Excellent Stewmac service as usual.

Phenominal tuners

(Customer's Reviews) Thursday, January 02, 2014

Just finished my double cut Les Paul with a "slotted" headstock. They look beautiful and function perfectly. I've owned a lot of guitars, installed a lot of tuners in my 40+ years of playing, building and repairing all sorts of stringed instruments and these tuners hold their own with any other tuners.

They're Grovers so...

...of course they're good. Reasonably priced and they are a great improvement to my Gretsch 5120. Intonation is greatly improved and the guitar actually stays in tune now. The originals were terrible.

Small price BIG return

I have used Grover 18:1 Sta-Tites on several guitar projects and they have never let me down. A brilliant upgrade for an intermediate guitar, but they are also at home on high $$ instruments. These tuners not only look great with a vintage vibe they do their job.

I've used the gold tuners on all the steel string guitars I've made. They are lightweight, stable, smooth, good looking and superb value for money.
