Modern precision, vintage style. For slotted steel-string guitars.

Our precision plate-style 16:1 machines feature the same gears and patented threaded worm bushings found on all Waverly guitar machines, for maximum tuning efficiency. 1/4"-diameter brass string shafts with 35mm/1-3/8" spacing are mounted on cast polished bronze baseplates. These artistically engraved plates age to a handsome patina. Slotted, round-head mounting screws included.

Direct replacement design
No additional mounting holes to drill when replacing similar vintage machines on older Martin, National, and Dobro guitars. Refer to the specs page for dimensions to compare to your instrument's tuners.

More efficient operation and better feel
Patented worm tension bearings eliminate the "play" inherent in other designs.

More efficient operation for more precise tuning
16:1 gear ratio. Patented worm tension bushing eliminates looseness.

Long life with less wear
Stainless steel worm gears have twin bushings. String post gears are machined from bronze alloy; more durable than brass.

Authentic knobs and string shafts
Black ebony knobs are light weight and add a clean look to your guitar. Ivoroid knobs resemble real ivory, but are a durable non-animal alternative. Brass string shafts are 1/4"-diameter with 35mm/1-3/8" spacing.

Oh, Yeah

A whole heck of a lot better than what my guitar came with. I've replaced the tuning machines on most of my guitars with Waverly's.

Waverly Machines with Snakewood knobs

Very impressive delivery from StewMac faster than Superman. These are superb machines which I fitted to my Martin 000-15 SM. This started out as a purely cosmetic change out. I didn't think the chrome Martin machines looked right and I thought why not try the snakewood / brass finish Waverly machines. I had to counterbore the holes as the Waverly shafts were a wee bit bigger diameter. I taped the holes to prevent splitting and put a bit of tape around the drill as a depth gauge. All went well and they look and operate superblyàvery smooth operation. I added brass bridge pins to finish off the look. Maybe more of my Martins will get the Waverly treatment. cheers Pat

For steel-string slothead guitars, these are simply the best tuners. The engraved plates are appropriate for the vintage look of slotheads and the tuner gears are smooth, trouble-free, and precise.

These just arrived today and I was surprised at how outstandingly beautiful they are. Top class tuners, tuners can't get better than these.

Waverly tuners are reminiscent of the craftsman engineering of a century ago. Form and function beautifully balanced. I highly recommend them. Stewmac provide an invaluable service, to which I've been pleased to have access over the years.

Slotted 3-on-a-plate Waverly Tuners- Ivoroid Buttons

These are solid tuners. I purchased this set to replace a set of Golden Age Resto. tuners that were giving me fits. I did have to enlarge the holes in the peghead for the rollers, but other than that, they fit very well. The cast bronze baseplate is extra nice and the action is silky smooth. I actually got to check out an old guitar last weekend that has the same tuners on it, but that set is over 20 years old and it still works great. They do patina to a dark brown.

Classy and sturdy tuners - I fitted them on my "Chinese" Gypsy-jazz guitar and the sustain has increase noticeably due to the chunky brass string-posts. Hi-class base-plates in a "chic" bronze, and really smooth operation - best I've ever had I think - A bit pricey, but so is staying at the Ritz! - Worth the investment - go for it! DJP

waverly tuners

For my money they're the best there is, and made in America. These went on a custom resonator guitar. In the past I bought 2 sets, disassembled them, mounted the gears on a 12 string base I machined from bronze. Now I have a 1969 Martin D-12-35 with Waverly tuners. Can't beat that.

I've been using Waverly machines on steel string and classical guitars for years. They look great and give smooth precision tuning, what more could you want.

When I build a guitar that has the best of everything I can put into it, Waverlys finish things off in a proper fashion.
