Gotoh Compact Bass Tuner, 2L+2R Set

About This Item

Enclosed-gear tuners for smaller pegheads, with 7/16"-diameter string posts and threaded hex bushings. 9/16"-diameter pegholes required.

Precision 20:1 gear ratio with sealed lubrication, cast housings and metal knobs. Set of 4, for 2-left/2-right pegheads. Mounting screws included.

Also sold individually for 5 or 6-string basses, or for asymmetric pegheads.

Pilot holes required: Installing delicate screws such as these into hard maple requires great care and accuracy. We highly recommend using a No.50 bit for the pilot hole before installing these screws. Lubricate the screw threads with cutting lubricant (also wax or a bar of soap) to reduce friction and help them thread properly.

Easy fix

Bought a Rouge violin bass and did not like the tuners. Would not hold the tension and stay in tune. These dropped right in without a problem and cured the problem. The price was also right.

Gotoh bass tuning machines

They're great. I have always liked the simplicity and strength of the gotoh machines, and the bass machine were no different. I was very pleased.

Excellent quality tuners

By

I bought these tuners to replace the stock ones on my Gretsch G2202 junior jet bass. They were a perfect fit without any modifications and much better quality.

My experience with Stewart-MacDonald was excellent! I order my Gotoh bass tuning keys and it arrived in great condition exactly when they said it would.

Gotoh GB707 not GB7

By
(Customer's Reviews)

These are being used to replace the Gotoh cheap knock off GB7 look alike machine heads on my made in PRC (Peoples Republic of China) Dean 5 string acoustic bass. The posts are of greater diameter but fit the holes drilled in the head stock a lot tighter. I have found that they have stabilized the neck a lot better now that i have worked with them for awhile. The mounting threads on the old ones were very poor and the machine heads would shift. Even though I replaced 1 with a Gotoh GB7 from the music store to stabilize the E string i will be ordering another 1 for that one soon as these look great and are generally meatier looking.

Great replacements for Epiphone Basses

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I've used these as upgrade replacements on the following Epiphone basses: El Capitan, Accubass and the Explorer. They fit like a glove with no drilling or reaming needed.

Perfect match for Fender acoustic bass

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I bought these to match the muted appearance that black nylon wrapped strings give my acoustic bass, and they look great.
The only reason it wasn't 5 stars is because the supplied black screws were smaller than the original screws and they provided exactly one per tuner, so no mistakes. The fit problem was easily solved by toothpicks.

Prefect Replacement

These tuners fit my Yamaha bass perfectly, no mods necessary. They are tight and tune efficiently. No slack when turning the machines, unlike the ones that came on the bass!

Great Replacements For My Carvin Bass

By
(Customer's Reviews)

Over the years I have had many of my Carvin tuners break inside the gearbox, right at the base of the shaft. I decided to spend the extra money and replace the tuners on one of my basses with these Gotoh Compact Bass Tuners. I was immediately impressed with the "beefiness" of these tuners. The tuning posts are much thicker than the posts on the Carvin tuners, taking up the entire area of the shaft channel and leaving no wiggle room for the tuning post. The accompanying picture shows one Gotoh tuner installed with some Carvin tuners still on the bass. There's quite a remarkable difference. The footprint on the back of the headstock, including the screw hole, matched perfectly making installation a breeze.
Another thing I loved was the customer service provided by Stewart-MacDonald. I called them on the Tuesday before New Years at approximately 8am. The person I talked to on the phone was extremely helpful in making sure I was getting exactly what I wanted and needed. (I also needed a single tuner to go along with the set since I was replacing the tuners on a five string). Within an hour I received an email saying my order had been shipped! The tuners arrived in California by Friday despite the New Year holiday!
Overall, I would highly recommend buying these tuners (and buying them from Stewart-MacDonald) to replace the sub par tuners that come on Carvin basses.

Great Value!

Very impressed with the quality/cost. Still had to enlarge the tuner holes in the peg-head of the Yamaha bass these were installed on. My customer was very pleased with these tuners!
