About This Item

The choice of renowned luthiers!
Beautiful Sloane classical tuners are first choice for many fine concert guitars.

Superior quality components, innovative design and meticulous craftsmanship combine for tuning performance that's second to none. Conceived by pioneering luthier Irving Sloane and crafted refined by Waverly.

Each set includes a pair of 3-left/3-right tuning machines with mounting screws.

New level of smooth: precision ball bearings on each string roller take tuning to an even higher level of smoothness, with no binding.

Improved: powder-coated aluminum rollers with brass inner shafts. No cracking, no premature wear.

    Superior design
  • Patented bushings eliminate looseness in the worm gear, for impressively precise tuning and smooth feel.
  • Baseplates and support posts are one-piece cast bronze, more stable than common riveted assemblies.
  • NEW precision ball bearings on each string roller prevent binding—a new level of smooth, effortless tuning for the performing artist.
  • Handsome white powder-coated aluminum string rollers have brass inner shafts and brass-lined string mounting holes. No cracking, no premature wear.
    Long-life gears
  • Bronze alloy 16:1 crown gears are more durable than the brass gears used in other tuners.
  • Stainless steel worms and screws assure longer life with less wear.
    Beauty to enhance fine instruments
  • Polished bronze baseplates attain a handsome antique patina.
  • Choose from a selection of beautiful polished knobs.

Installation Tips

Mounting screws: Pilot holes required. Installing delicate screws into hard wood requires great care and accuracy. We highly recommend the #1711 Depth-stop Drill Bit (No.50 bit) for the pilot hole before installing these screws. Lubricate the screw threads with cutting lubricant (also wax or a bar of soap) to reduce friction and help them thread properly.

These are truly amazing tuners! A big update with the older ones. The ball bearing is definitely a big step up... The holes also have now a metal tube in it, which prevents it from ripping... My guitar now tunes much better.

Also, stewmac wasn't lying when they said they have lifetime warranty on them. And I have to say this, I had some issues with my older models, and Stewmac handled everything fast, correct and with great customer service. Ever since I got the new ones I can't believe that these are way less than Rodgers, while they do everything what you expect from great tuners.

The secret sauce in these tuners is that they include a bearing to be placed in the neck of the guitar where the white tuning roller that the string is attached to resides. So the tuning roller rotates on a bearing instead of the concentric circle in the neck of the guitar. Eliminates slippage and provides a consistent level of resistance when tuning. I put them on my 1984 Del Pilar Guitar and absolutely love them. Brings tuning to a whole new level. Terry at Guitar Works in Evanston recommended them and installed them. That's a great place with an excellent repair shop.

This is a best peg.

This has very nice performance. I think it is as nice as Rogers peg, better than any other peg. And the design is very good too.

Sloane Classical Machines - Leaf Bronze Baseplates

I have fitted these to an 1837 Lacote I have been restoring for the last two months. They look stunning and operate perfectly. I would highly recommend these as befitting a treasured vintage salon guitar.

Sloane Classical Tuners

These tuners are amazing! The quality of the fit and finish is superb, tuning the strings is smooth and effortless, no wonder so many big name makers use Sloane tuners. I am considering making these standard tuners for all the guitars I make. Well worth the money!

Sloane classical tuners

I've used these tuners for about 10 years now on my classical guitars. Their short and narrow base plates allow you to make a smaller and lighter head, which according to research, means less energy loss from the strings. They have proved quite robust as well.
