Waverly Banjo Tuning Pegs

About This Item

Inspired by the unique pegs used on prewar Gibson Florentine, Bella Voce and Granada banjos, and Martin OM guitars in the '20s and '30s.

Waverly's distinctive machined brass "2-Band" offset gear case and grained ivoroid knob will bring a handsome vintage touch to your banjo.

The best of vintage design and modern craftsmanship.
Smoother than the originals, thanks to 4:1 planetary gears, sealed lubrication, low-friction bushings, internal tension spring, leather knob washer and adjustable knob tension.

The brass string post has the original taper for proper string angle over the nut. The threaded hex bushing has a tapered washer to help protect the peghead finish.

For 7/16" to 3/4" (11.11mm x 19.05mm) peghead thickness. 3/8"-dia. pegholes required.

"Waverlys are smooth, accurate, and dependable."
—Sammy Shelor, The Lonesome River Band

"Very efficient and smooth banjo pegs. I highly recommend them."
—Tony Trischka

Waverly Banjo Tuning Pegs

By
(Customer's Reviews)

i bought the Waverly banjo tuning pegs in gold, to replace the original Grover Pat. pegs fitted to my 1929 Gibson Royal P-T Mastertone banjo. The old pegs were difficult to tune, and would not hold their tuning (gears worn, presumably).
The Waverlys look almost identical, dropped right in without any modification, and they are smooth and allow accurate tuning, which holds. They work great!

Waverly Banjo Pegs

These Waverly pegs are a fantastic set of tuners that breathed new life into my tired, 4-decade-old Aria banjo. The original pegs were shot, and I was spending more time tuning than playing. These Waverly pegs are so smooth and hold tune wonderfully. I wholeheartedly recommend them.

As a side note, my Aria has larger than 3/8" peg holes for its original pegs, so I turned down the exterior of 3/8" I.D. copper bushings to correctly fit the pegs to the larger holes. This worked nicely, and the pegs fit snugly. The top washer that comes with the Waverly pegs covers the bushing completely, and the installation looks and works great.

This was my first order from Stew-Mac, and I'll definitely be back to shop again. Outstanding service and incredibly fast shipping. 5 stars for Stew-Mac too!

Excellent service and product quality

The pegs arrived in excellent packaging and have been installed. My old Trujo banjo is working as it
should again, much to my delight. It was an easy installation. No problems. I'm glad i was able to find you on the web.
Now all I need is a fret template for a plectrum banjo which is a hand made replica of an 1800's banjo that has a gourd for a pot and no frets.

Absolutely worth the extra bucks

I originally unstalled a set of 5-Star tuners on my plectrum banjo but eventually, when it came to gigging, the 5-star tuners just weren't reliable enough. So I invested another 99 bucks in a set of waverly tuners and they are just a completely different world! I wish I had spent the extra 20 bucks from the beginning. Would have saved me 80 bucks...

Perfect for Vintage Appearance and Modern Performance

The original tuners on '89 Gibson RB3 were getting sloppy. They were the old Schaller pancakes. I replaced them with the Waverly units and am highly pleased. The ivoroid buttons are more correct in appearance. The tuners are smooth and stable.
