Waverly's distinctive machined brass "2-Band" offset gear case and grained ivoroid knob will bring a handsome vintage touch to your banjo.

The best of vintage design and modern craftsmanship.
Smoother than the originals, thanks to 4:1 planetary gears, sealed lubrication, low-friction bushings, internal tension spring, leather knob washer and adjustable knob tension.

The brass string post has the original taper for proper string angle over the nut. The threaded hex bushing has a tapered washer to help protect the peghead finish.

For 7/16" to 3/4" (11.11mm x 19.05mm) peghead thickness. 3/8"-dia. pegholes required.

New life for a pre-war Gibson Banjo

By Steve Matern from Moses Lake, Washington
(Customer's Reviews) Thursday, October 04, 2012

I recently acquired a pre-war Gibson Tenor banjo that was in rather sad shape with a broken peghead. I reformed the peghead with some maple pieces from a local hardware store and obtained the new tuning pegs to bring it back to a playable condition. The new tuning pegs are a joy to use, and have restored life to a damaged classic instrument. I also added an Ebonite veneer over the reconstructed peghead. When I received the veneer it had a significant split in it but the coverage I needed was available in the piece; even with the split. Attached are photos of the peghead, before and after the restoration. I am currently working on creating a new nut to complete its revival as a usable instrument.

I bought a set to replace originals on an old B&D Special #1 tenor I was restoring. They arrived just in time to install for a St. Patty's Day gig and worked great!! Pretty much true to the originals.

These tuners were an upgrade to my 1924 Gibson tenor banjo. They are very high quality and they are made in the USA.

and well worth it - so easy to tune and still be able to enjoy the hide head on a very old, probably Sears or Montgomery Ward - added some weight to the peg head, but again - it's worth it

Excellent Tuning Pegs WIth Excellent Warranty

By Wayne Thomas from Marion ,Va  USA

I have had the Waverly pegs on my Gibson Banjo ever since I got the instrument and had trouble free service for many years until I started having trouble with the pegs slipping. If I tightened the tension screw enough to prevent slipping the pegs were almost impossible to move.

I contacted Stew Mac and one of their knowledgeable reps told me the pegs were lifetime warranty if indeed they were original Waverly . To make a long story short I received excellent service on the warranty and put my old banjer back in top shape! I replaced the original Schaller 5th string peg with a Waverly Planetary peg and that made all the difference in the world!!

I can truthfulls say that the Waverly pegs are the absolute best I have tried or used and they come highly recommended from me!

Thanks for the great service Stew Mac!
