Details

Details make the difference: these beautiful strap buttons match our bridge pins, and the knobs on Waverly guitar tuning machines.

They'll add a touch of class to your guitar. Each is precisely machined (none of the unsightly mold lines found on plastic buttons), and polished to accent the beauty of the material. A special countersunk brass bushing helps protect the button against overtightening — a unique StewMac feature.

Button diameter: 17/32" (13.28mm)
Button height: 7/16" (11.11mm)

Strap button felt washers protect your guitar's finish.

Our white and ivoroid strap buttons are made of Galalith, a dense and durable casein-based material that polishes beautifully. Popular in the early 20th century, Galalith is seen today mainly in collectible vintage jewelry. It cannot be molded; each pin is precisely machined and has none of the unsightly mold lines common to plastic pins.

The old ones were ten times better!

All you see is the screw head. Definitely not an improvement. Please bring back the good ones... with nothing but ebony exposed.

Just the Thing

My new Larrivee didn't come with a front strap button and I am not a fan of the tied-on-the-headstock feel. The Snakewood is beautiful and was easy to install on the passenger side of the heel. I used a 3/32" bit to drill the pilot hole. Very happy with the result. Your mileage may vary.

Strap buttons to match your instrument's finish

A nice alternative to the plain metallic strap button with smooth edges and a variety of colors and materials. I put a snake wood button on a rosewood bodied guitar. It's unobtrusive and sturdy. The tie-in to Waverly tuner buttons is a welcome touch. Sure, it's a detail, but it's been designed thoughtfully. Just what you'd expect from StewMac!

STOP strap malfunctioning

By Peter M. from Brockton, MA
(Customer's Reviews) Saturday, November 16, 2013

OK. I bought this strap button for 2 reasons.
1.) It was antiqued ivoroid and therefore, beautiful. and
B.) to stop & prevent guitar strap malfunction. By installing this in the heel of the neck, strap failure has been reduced to 1% as compared to the 99.2% malfunction rate before installation. So, I highly recommend this button if you wish to protect your axe from the deleterious effects of gravity!

Snakewood Strap Button

Beautiful strap button. My advice to those thinking about buying these, make sure to add felt washers to your order if you don't have any lying around the shop/home. Also, take care to not over-tighten these (especially when installing on a surface that isn't truly flat) as it might crack/break the bottom of the button.

Great button.

I recently installed this button on my Recording King Troubadour that didn't have a button for a strap. This is a really high quality button and hardware. It matches the end pin which I also got from StewMac. I read the StewMac suggestions on where and how to place the button. It was super easy and works/looks great.

New Strap Buttons

Very nicely made strap buttons. The ebony are quite attractive and look much nicer than the standard metal buttons. The brass insert, which does not show once the screw is in, adds strength. My only suggestion is that the ebony buttons should be available with a black screw. I used a black screw with mine and it gave it a sleek and finished look. The screw became much less noticeable.
