It's a great gadget, but it could be get lost so easy. Also, some times it turns by itself losing the locking properties.

Why didn't I think of these....

By

They work great on my strap and guitar. As long as you don't spin the guitar on a carpeted floor or something then put it back on without checking to make sure that the lock is still engaged. I spun mine on the couch to pick it up and the lock came undone and fell of on the bottom strap button. I can't see them coming loose any other way though, especially not while on your guitar while you're wearing it. Plus, they're portable and can go from guitar to guitar if you happen to have six, like I do. Now, if they only were made of steel.....in the photo they are a little hard to see on my Spotlight but they are on it which is another plus. You don't have to modify your vintage instrument to make it safe from falls. I dropped a really nice Melody Maker once and broke the set in neck in horrible ways. I'd still have it most likely if I would have had these on it at the time.

Stew-Mac Innovates

I have been playing guitar and bass since the mid '70's and first saw these strap locks in the early '80's, so I bought a couple of pair, which I still own. All the guitarists I have shown them to have been very impressed. For over 20 years I have been looking to buy more of these, but never saw them again until recently. Now my prayers have been answered with Stewart-MacDonald! Other strap locks on the market are two-piece, semi-permanent, require screwing them to your guitar and strap and cost $10 to $20 (more important even: the metal parts of the standard strap locks can ding and scratch the surface of your guitar.) These are easy to use, very sturdy and much less expensive. You simply can't go wrong with this solution.
Thanks again, Stew-Mac, for yet another innovative product!

Great idea

Like all great ideas, this was a "why didn't I think of that?" However, please make one that will fit over acoustic electric end pin jacks.

They're okay.

I prefer a sturdier strap lock myself, but these will do the trick. The price is terrific though, and I will order more in the future as they are a nice little bonus to toss in the case after doing a job...

This is a simple product that does the a great job. Make sure you dont have "Large" strap button...or you'll have to change them...but once changed these little jewels shine...

Stay original and undropped

By

I bought these looking for a strap lock system that was cheap and more importantly, allowed me to keep my guitar original. I thought I would try these and was very pleased. They stay on tight!

My only beefs are that they are a little big and can stand out if you have a lighter colored strap. Luckily I use black straps. It can also be a little difficult to get these locks on thicker straps. Actually 'impossible' may be the word if your strap is too thick. The biggest flaw in my opinion is that the locks can become so tight and hard to turn on thicker straps that the strap button actually loosens. The lock will stay on but the button will fall right out, so look out for that.

Good design

I like the price. You can get four or five and keep them in your case, your pocket or leave it on the guitar when your not using the strap. They won't scratch or nick your finish like the ones that stay attached to strap. Just make sure to turn it to lock every time you attach the strap.

they do what they say. Especially if you have a classic you don't want to put strap locks on. Like Ben said, a bit of tape on it can really make them not come loose.

Lokstrap system

These are ok. Sometimes they don't fit over the end pins, especially on my acoustics. They also can pop open if pried hard enough. They are definitely better than nothing, but if you have the money, go for the real strap locks.
