Grover Quick-release Strap Locks

About This Item

Keeps your strap locked in place! Two-piece spring action design allows for easy removal of the strap from the guitar.

Smooth, polished parts will not damage or mark up your strap. Set of 2.

We recommend using a 7/64" bit for the pilot hole before installing these screws.

Extra strap buttons also available.

Invaluable

I've put these on every instrument (Gibson, Fender, Warwick and a home build bass) I own. With regular strap buttons the strap would frequently come undone, for example when putting the instrument behind my back to get to a keyboard. This was particularly the case on a favorite old thick leather strap. These make that impossible. They are an *essential* upgrade if you want to protect your gear.

Grover Quick Release Strap Locks ~ Black

Easy to install, work great, and for $16.xx bucks the GQ-R Strap locks are an excellent addition to the strat I've got. Keeps the guitar on my neck securely and also allows me to slip it off easily and reliably. The stock strap buttons work, but are no fun to take on and off. Grover makes good stuff and these are no exception.

Good product with a long life

I'm a weekend rocker and playing for 35+ years. I put a set of these on my Les Paul in 2002. 15 years of rockin finally wore the post that is screwed into the guitar to where the strap lock would no longer secure. I'm happy to replace and get another 15 years!

The quick-release units, themselves, are fine. They work with some of the other buttons on various guitars I have and they greatly simplify the task of putting your best strap on the guitar you wish to play.

The button that come with this system, however, are very poorly designed and made. Actually, to be precise, the problem lies with the screws that hold them on. First, they are smaller than the screws that hold all of the other buttons on my guitars (7). This means that I was not able to simply switch the Grover buttons for the OEM buttons. Instead, I had to, first, fill the hole from the OEM button, then drill a new hole for the smaller Grover button. This would be bad enough, except that the Grover-supplies screws are so soft that the first two I put on had the head twist off, even with a moderate torque setting on my screwdriver. I had to, then, drill out the button to accept a bigger screw (which I did on all the remaining buttons). Not the experience you want with a new product. Grover should know that most of the strap buttons in use have a larger screw than the one they provided. They make many of them. This product is virtually unusable, unless you want to go through the steps I had to take.

5 Stars for Stewart-MacDonald (2 for Grover)

These Grover Strap Locks are great when you get good ones. Grover's QC seems to be suffering, though, as in my case the parts I received included one strap insert that only had half the thread. Kudos to Stewart- MacDonald for excellent customer service. Spencer expedited replacement parts without a hassle, without charge, and without needing to return the original parts. Great job Stew-Mac!

These strap locks are ok. They get the job done but could be so much better with a few simple changes. The black tends to flake off very quickly. The chrome seems to be of good quality for the several packs I have received. They could use more threads to fit thick straps and I know have had two different packs show up with the first 3/16 to 1/4" of the threads either not machined correctly or stripped off at the factory. StewMac customer service was nice and took care of it, but I tend to think Grover products are higher quality than to have several show up with problems. Will be looking at the Dunlop or Schaller strap locks in the future.

I tried to put these on a THICK leather strap. The threads are not long enough to catch the nut. I pressed really hard trying to get the threads to catch. All I ended up doing was stripping the threads off the lock.....destroyed....they are now trash.

I ended up getting the Schaller strap locks from another vendor. they have at least a couple more threads. They do cost more.

So, if you have a thin strap, these will work. If you have a THICK leather strap, get the Schallers
