String spread is the distance between the centers of the outer strings on a bridge or tailpiece.

Saddle radius determines the arc formed by all the individual saddle heights, and is similar to the measurement of a fretboard.

Stud/post spacing is the distance between the centers of the mounting posts of a bridge or 'stop' tailpiece.

A really well made bridge

By George from Hobart, IN
(Customer's Reviews) Monday, June 02, 2014

I purchased this item a while back from stew mac and finally got around to using it. I installed it on a Epiphone Les Paul with conversion posts. Now even though this bridge is pre-notched, you still have to file and cut the notches deeper on some of the saddles, and you also have to flip some of the saddles around in some cases just like Gibson and Epiphone does. Use caution when flipping the saddles around, there's a nut with a nylon washer and a screw with a nylon washer, these parts are easy to strip out, so take your time and do it right the first time. But this part also fits in place of a Standard ABR-1 bridge as on a Gibson Les Paul and such, it is similar to the Nashville bridge in some aspects, but best of all you can use your stock posts with it.

Good solid bridge

This is a good bridge. Definitely an improvement over the Gibson/Epiphone bridge with the retaining wire. They say the saddles are pre-notched but they are really pre-nicked. So be prepared to use a couple of nut files when notching them.

Get this and don't waste time with others

This made a huge difference after wasting my time with TOM bridges with the retaining wire. Since putting this in I no longer get any random buzzing in my IBJL Casino. Great item!

Better than stock Gibson TOM

I use GOTOH TOM bridges on many of my Gibson and Epiphone guitars. Gotoh makes a very solid, stable bridge with more room to adjust intonation and no springs or loose parts to make noise, buzz or get lost...Gotoh is the ONLY replacement TOM bridge I have used for the last several years. I am NOT a tech, but I have over 40 guitars and have been playing since the early '60's and do some of my own set ups and minor work.

Great bridge! I make new guitars (not repairing older ones) and its a breeze to set up for someone who knows what theyre doing.

Not for every guitar

These will not work on many Asian-made guitars as the posts are of a different size. Excellent quality though.

My 2001 De Armond M72 needed a new bridge, it was buzzing and fuzzing. This bridge did the trick, just loosened the strings, lifted off the old one from the posts and put the new one on, didn't even have to use the new post! perfect fit! Took about 5 minutes to do! The new one was already notched, didn't have to buy files and learn how to do that. Good clean and clear sound. Adjusted string height between 3 and 4/64th (very low) and set intonation, I now have a very awesome AXE!!
