Firstly, I am consistently impressed with Stewmac's customer service and UNGODLY FAST SHIPPING. How they get stuff to me so fast, I may never know.
I picked up the Scaller Floyd Rose to replace the Jackson licensed jt580lp in my 2007 WRMG. The Jackson Floyd has served me VERY well, but with rusty screws and an ability to collect dust that rivals that of an old tube television, it was time for an upgrade. Upon simply laying eyes on the Schaller, I knew that it a substantial piece of equipment, only reinforced when I picked it up. The weight is evidence that this thing is quality. SOLID. I immediately noticed the thickness of the baseplate, and overal quality of every piece. Even the sustain block (which is, on any other Floyd, anything but) was of decent size and weight. Impressive, considering that piece is just about always the corner that is cut. I finally understand why this hardware has an adament and loyal following. REAL metal? Finally, no more mystery meats. My only complaint is that I didn't get it sooner. This thing is THE REAL DEAL.

Big improvement

I got this to replace a Washburn Schaller Floyd Rose. The threads on the base plate had stripped out where the saddle screws go and the guitar would not stay intonated. This new Schaller Floyd has hardened steel inserts so you can get the saddle tight enough without stripping the threads on the base plate.

Nothing to write home about

Ironic title for a review, but it's true. I bought this as a replacement for a licensed Floyd Rose that had a block which was too short for my Strat. The Schaller fixed my problem and actually gave my guitar a decent amount of sustain. I don't care who disagrees, the bridge affects more than tuning stability, it helps fatten up your tone, too. Unfortunately, within a month or two of owning it I had cracked a saddle insert block and the black paint had chipped off around all the screws. Take what you will from that, but I didn't actually mind. In the end, I got to replace my old bridge with one that really did give the guitar a 1 up mushroom and replacement saddles are only $3.

Why I like a Floyd Rose trem

By Georgio from Gloucester, VA

I'll get right to the point. I am not a luthier, I can do set ups, but I don't replace nuts or fretwire, I don't even level frets. But if it's a straight forward set up job. No sweat.

Here WAS my problem. I am constantly working on my own stuff, and I went through this period of trying to find what felt best for me. It wasn't a problem until the string gauges started changing etc... that's when I realized to things (1) I don't feel comfortable adjusting string slots, and (2) I couldn't afford to pay a tech for the adjustments necessary to nuts, slots etc...
Then a Floyd Rose Trem came into my life and suddenly I didn't have to be a luthier... I just had to have my developed skills and mechanical apptitude. Problem solved. I've been a big fan ever since. And Stew-Mac has everything required to make those adjustments and replace worn parts. It's great.

I am sure that Schaller floyd Rose is super. It is better than old Schaller because now it had been reinforced with steel to the screws

Best Floyd on the market!

I purchased the chrome type and had it installed in a 90's Washburn MG-30. The "licensed" Floyd I had in there previously was a joke. Thin pot metal and the trem would seize up a lot and cause hectic tuning problems. Although I did have to take my Washburn to my local luthier shop to have the post holes plugged and re-drilled, TOTALLY WORTH THE EXTRA $20!!! My Washburn has completely different character. The tones I can get from my Washburn are just phenomenal and I feel like I have a brand new guitar plus, tuning issues are GONE! Shipping time and cost are bottom line the best out there. Thanks Stew Mac!
