A very musical tonewood, and a fresh alternative to traditional ebony. African Blackwood is very hard (good for tone) without being brittle (good for shaping).
Cutting into these bridge blanks reveals a handsome grain of chocolate brown swirled into pure black. Buffs out nicely and polishes to a nice sheen.
Each blank is approximately 7-1/4" x 5/8" x 1-3/4" (184.15mm x 15.88mm x 44.45mm).
Bridge making tips
Routing: African Blackwood is very hard, so we recommend our carbide bit for routing the saddle slot.
Gluing: Since Blackwood is dense and non-porous, rough up the underside of the bridge for good glue adhesion.
