Good Fit

I ordered this Gotoh bridge after I saw that the Fender vintage wasn't going to fit the strat (unfinished body from online auction site) I was working on. This bridge fit fine. Happy to see it came with everything you needed to install it; claw, screws, trem arm, springs. The only thing I find could use improvement is the trem arm. It's just not very robust. I put on all five springs for now, at least until I can get the neck finished and mounted so I can put strings on it, and when I checked the operation with spring tension, the arm bent out of shape and hit the body on the backswing. I had to bend it back to unscrew it. And I may have missed it, but there was no spring to keep the arm from swinging freely when not in use. Trems are cool, and these are so much less a PITA to work with than F.R. type, but they all seem to be a PITA at some point. I do like the bridge, though.

Good Choice for my build

By

I purchased this trem because of the price point. I assembled a faux '66 strat from parts and replaced the OE trem on my '85 MIJ '57 RI. I believe these are MIK parts for Gotoh. I wanted it for the steel block and vintage look. The set up was easy. The quality IMHO is every bit as good as OE. The tone is bright, not brittle. The sustain is very good. In my build I used 2 humbuckers and this bridge makes the neck pickup sound like a huge single coil with clarity and definition. Exactly the tone I heard in my head. On my MIJ '57 RI, there is extra chime and sustain. Can you say Sultans of Swing? My only beef is the saddle string height screws are all one length. I set my action light and low, so the screws are protruding up from the saddles quite a bit. Other than that, I do not think you can find a better trem system without spending $100.00 or more.

Tremalo

The big block tremalo system stays in tune well and adds more sustain! Had to router out the tremalo cavity for it to pivot fully but that was rather easy to do with a dremal rotary tool. I was not sure that I liked the tremalo arm angle at first as I was not used to it but found that I like it better than the standard Fender tremalo arm angle! Rock On!

Alternative Parts for the everyday Strat

I think when you build up a Strat up from parts, you could try and use other company's items. Gotoh is a very good brand that I use. I decided to try their drop-in tremolo, and I'm grad I did. The tremolo fit perfectly, looks great, and functions properly. If you're thinking about your budget, this unit comes complete and is a good deal. I can recommend this tremolo without hesitation.

Fits Yamaha SE 300 like the original

By

I wasn't certain that this would fit my Strat copy, but the detailed measurements gave me enough confidence to order. The question was really about how closely Yamaha had mimicked Fender screw spacing and body depth. This is exactly like the original. Another bonus - intonation was also surprisingly close right out of the box. I give it four rather than five stars because it doesn't come with a trem arm stabilizer spring - minor issue.

Excellent upgrade for a Strat!

I bought this bridge to upgrade a Squier Strat. It is of fantastic quality, better quality metal thus larger mass which leads to increased sustain. Was easy to install, adjust and intonate. This, coupled with Gotoh tuners made a world of difference.
