Gotoh In-Tune Compensated Saddles For Tele

About This Item

They look original, but they play in tune!
The problem with vintage Tele® saddles is that they weren't designed for accurate intonation. These Gotoh replacements provide precise tuning while keeping the vintage look.

Built-in compensation
Unique grooves molded into these saddles move each string's point of contact for more exact intonation than traditional barrel saddles.

Choose brass for traditional Tele twang or titanium for rich harmonic overtones and long sustain.

Gotoh's In-Tune saddles fit any vintage-style Tele bridge. Each saddle is reversible and can be used in any position.

Diameter: 0.310" (7.87mm)
String Spread: 2-1/8" (53.98mm)

Set of 3 includes steel intonation screws and springs.

Needed replacement saddles

By

My Telecaster is around 25 years old and the original saddles became corroded and pitted. It was like having sandpaper against the strings. These saddles were the perfect replacement and being brass, added some twang to my Tele. The price was great as well.

Easy to install and brought my intonation much closer to perfect. Well worth the money. Would highly recommend this upgrade to any Tele player.

Significant and needed upgrade to an Ashtray bridge

Inexpensive upgrade for a 3 saddle vintage style bridge. Will never look back at the chrome barrels which were standard on my '72 Telecaster Custom. Best initially installed upside down until threaded and then flip over. There are 3 saddles. The center is the oddball and is reverse of the other 2. Excellent sustain, beefy and sturdy build quality, all resulting in better if not perfect intonation to replace a classic yet flawed Fender bridge design. An amazing upgrade for $25, thank you Gotoh and Stew Mac.

I bought these saddles to complete my VibraMate Bigsby conversion on my Esquire. They corrected the string spacing and slipping issues. Plus overall tone! If it wasn't for these saddles I would have put the Bigsby on another guitar because it wasn't working without them!

Ordered Gotoh brass saddles for my Squier Classic Vibe Tele Thinline. They went on in minutes and intonated perfectly using my Strobosoft iPhone app. Great product, great service from Stew-Mac!

Fabulous

Ordered these yesterday and got here this afternoon. That alone is amazing. I got the brass ones to replace the straight barrels on my FSR Deluxe MIM. I had a new set of 11-49 nickel wounds to put on when I changed these. They were very easy to put on, adjust the intonation and tweak the string height. It took 20 minutes in all.

It may have been the fact that my strings were old and I'd never bothered to try to intonate the original saddles, but the combined effect of the new saddles and new strings makes it feel like a new guitar. The intonation is about as perfect as you could hope. It's a huge improvement. Even if you don't feel the need to intonate, the string notches alone are worth the change. Mine would migrate over to the grub screws and mess with the string spacing. These hold them in place. A no-brainer upgrade that retains the vintage look. Highly worth it. I'll likely toss the originals.

Decent Upgrade

Replaced the brass saddles on Squier CV50's Telecaster with the brass compensated. Quick install but a neck shim is now required. These are somewhat beefier than the original saddles and are bottomed-out at on the treble side with a 4/64" action. Using a TC Electroic Polytone, the intonation seems better but far from "dead on." It'll definitely need some detail file-work for the finicky player. Guitar definitely seems livelier with the same strings.

The best $25 you will ever spend on your Tele.!

These saddles are the best $25 you will ever spend on your Tele.!

They work! I installed the brass saddle set on my Squier Classic Vibe Tele. (’63 Custom repro. with Cleartone 9-42 strings). I started with the E/A string saddle. I set the string height for both strings, and adjusted the intonation on the low E string. Then I brought the A string up to tune. To my surprise and delight, the intonation on the A string was dead-nuts on! The same was true for the D/G and B/E saddles – set the intonation on the lower string of the pair, and it is also perfect for the higher string. These saddles also warmed the guitar’s tone considerably compared to the originals. It still has a bright sound, but without the “ice pick” high-E string.

One neutral comment. When you order these, the saddles are ALL you get; no instructions, no Allen wrench to adjust the string height, nothing – just the 3 saddles in a poly bag. Some compensated saddle sets have specific saddles for the E/A, D/G, B/E positions, but these all appear to be the same, at least as far as I can tell. They probably assume that if you are enough of a gear head to know that you want compensated saddles you can figure it out yourself, but I was expecting some kind of instructions.

Overall a great product - I am 100% happy!

It's not doing what I hoped it would do. The Barrels are not off set to compensate. All I can figure is that the grooves are supposed to do the compensation, but it ain't working. An email to Gotoh has gone un answered.

Response from StewMac

We are very sorry to hear you aren't happy with these saddles. We sent you an email regarding this review and we would be happy to help in any way that we can.
