Waverly Guitar Strap Button

About This Item

Details make the difference: these beautiful strap buttons match our bridge pins, and the knobs on Waverly guitar tuning machines.

They'll add a touch of class to your guitar. Each is precisely machined (none of the unsightly mold lines found on plastic buttons), and polished to accent the beauty of the material. A special countersunk brass bushing helps protect the button against overtightening — a unique StewMac feature.

Button diameter: 17/32" (13.28mm)
Button height: 7/16" (11.11mm)

Sold individually.

Strap button felt washers protect your guitar's finish.

Our white, ivoroid, and dark tortoise strap buttons are made of Galalith, a dense and durable casein-based material that polishes beautifully. Popular in the early 20th century, Galalith is seen today mainly in collectible vintage jewelry. It cannot be molded; each pin is precisely machined and has none of the unsightly mold lines common to plastic pins.

Cool alternative

I have these on several guitars. The galalith material is very attractive, appears strong and blends nicely especially on a mahogany body. Yhe tortoise is a great alternative to the standard ivoroid or ebony.

Might be better options available

I bought both the iveroid and ebony version of this strap button. They both look great, but I decided to go with a different model & brand.

I installed the ebony one, but the base of the button split along the wood grain when I snugged the screw. I didn't tighten it very much at all, but due to the grain orientation and maybe a weakness with the grain on this particular button, it split anyway.

Another possible contributing factor; Maybe the hole wasn't drilled perfectly perpendicular to the surface and this may have put a little extra pressure on one side of the base. Whatever the exact cause, it split with very little pressure, so proceed with caution if you decide to go with the ebony button.

The iveroid one would probably be more durable in this regard, but I found that both of these buttons stick up higher than the chrome ones I bought from another vendor.

For my heel mounted button location it was enough of a difference that I preferred the lower profile of the chrome button.

Depending on your button location the little extra height might be a non-issue. If I we're mounting this to the upper bought, as I have occasionally seen done, it probably would have worked OK.

I bought this Snakewood guitar button for my Martin D41 guitar which didn't have one. I held my breath when drilling the hole but had no trouble installing it. Easy to do if you're careful. I highly recommend this product to anyone who cares to beautify their instrument.

Sharp look addition on my Baratone Riptide ukulele. Easy to install myself. Amplified jack input about two inches below Snakewood button which now matches Uke body. Quality investment.

Waverly Snakewood strap button perfect match for Martin Guitar

By

Verified Buyer

I recently bought two of these Snakewood strap buttons to install on my Martins. The color is a perfect match for the mahogany necks. I could not be more pleased. (I do wish brown felt washers were available but the black ones look ok.) They installed easily with a 3/16" pilot hole. One felt washer was enough and only tighten until snug.
The pics show the button installed on a 000-28VS.
