About bridge & tailpiece measurements

Bridge and Tailpiece reference image

String spread is the distance between the centers of the outer strings on a bridge or tailpiece.

Saddle radius determines the arc formed by all the individual saddle heights, and is similar to the measurement of a fretboard.

Stud/post spacing is the distance between the centers of the mounting posts of a bridge or 'stop' tailpiece.

Nice quality but would rather have it preslotted fully

Nice bridge with no rattling or buzz. Good width for accurate intonation adjustments. Direct drop in replacement on original epiphone bridge posts. Do your measurements before purchase! You'll have to hammer in the strings or file the saddles to have the best fit. If they were already fully preslotted that would save time. That's my only complaint.

Nicely finished replacement with more adjustment than the original....also don't need the bridge jack tool either, just a simple flathead screwdrivder for adjustment.

Love this bridge.

Anybody that's ever dealt with the original Gibson ABR-1 Bridge knows it's a rattle box. This Gotoh is the go-to (pun intended) replacement. I've had a few of these rattle because the parts did not fit perfectly; but, StewMac replaced them without a fuss. These bridges are affordable; and, when you get a good one, it's the best replacement. Gibson should start using these bridges and give up on the 60-plus-year-old ABR-1 engineering. But, Gibson should get their bridge posts in the right spot and quit destroying strings by seating the stop-tail-piece onto the top of the guitar body as well! Gibson's a corporation. What can you do?

Doesn't fit snugly on Epiphone LP Posts

Great product, great service, doesn't fit snugly on posts of an Epiphone LP (2014 Standard model). This is strange because the posts provided are exactly the same size as the ones in my guitar already so why wouldn't they make their own bridge fit snugly around their own posts? I bought this because the retaining wire was giving me a headache and I just filed these new bridge saddles down with an acetylene torch tip cleaner: No I don't have $13 per bridge file to spend and it took like half an hour and cost me $4 from Home Depot for the set which I also used for a new nut. The screws are longer so you don't have to flip the saddles to intonate and it installed really easily. I would only install this as an upgrade to an Epiphone. If you have a Gibby just get a Tonemaster or a direct replacement and file the saddles from scratch (yes the hammer banging on the string thing works look at the awesome tutorial on StewMac). Be prepared to use electrical tape or similar to get the bridge snug to the posts. Do you think it affects my sonic transfer?!?! Oh no!

Perfect fit!!

Perfect fit for my Epiphone LP. Dropped it on the existing posts, no problems. With a small socket I was able to reverse a saddle for intonation on the G string. Well made for the price point. Solid.
