About bridge & tailpiece measurements

Bridge and Tailpiece reference image

String spread is the distance between the centers of the outer strings on a bridge or tailpiece.

Saddle radius determines the arc formed by all the individual saddle heights, and is similar to the measurement of a fretboard.

Stud/post spacing is the distance between the centers of the mounting posts of a bridge or 'stop' tailpiece.

Best upgrade for Epiphone Les Paul Guitars

(Customer's Reviews)

It's a drop-in replacement for the bridges (the ones with the wire...ugh!) on Epiphone LP guitars. No drilling or anything needed. Make sure you get the nickel ones, as chrome has a bluish tinge to it, whereas nickel is what is on the Epiphone. The saddles do not buzz, and the grooves on the saddles are deep enough for 8 and 9 gauge strings and the strings don't pop out. Price on Stew-Mac is reasonable for such a great bridge. I replaced all the bridges on my guitars with this one.

Needed Upgrade

(Customer's Reviews)

Your epiphone LP is a pain to intonate? Don't hesitate and buy this thing!
My guitar is a epiphone LP studio and my G and low E strings are now, finally! intonated.

Wish I had done this long ago

(Customer's Reviews)

I swapped out the stock bridge on my Epiphone Sheraton II for this Gotoh bridge and what an absolute difference it made. More adjustment with the Gotoh unit made intonation a breeze. Saw mention of others using the supplied posts/bushings given the better quality; I had to swap them out on mine as the stock Epiphone posts were smaller than those that came with the Gotoh, and one of the stock bushings had some bad threads that would not allow full insertion of the Gotoh post. Change out was relatively simple and straight forward, popped the old bushings out and pressed the new Gotoh bushings in their place. The entire process took me a little more than 30 minutes:removal of stock components, installation of the Gotoh components, intonation, re-tune the guitar and play. Without question the easiest intonation I have ever attempted and the new tone is fantastic. A few very minor adjustments this morning and she is ripping like never before. I would definitely recommend this product as an upgrade to Epiphone Sheraton guitars; this is definitely a "must-do" upgrade if you want to get the most from your Epiphone instrument.
