Adjustable Wraparound Bridge

About This Item

A modern reproduction of the first combo bridge/tailpiece to feature individually adjustable saddles.

The wraparound design brought accurate intonation to Les Paul Junior®, SG Junior® and similar solidbody guitars, and has been popular since the 1970s.

String spread
Saddle radius
Stud spacing
Stud threads
M8 x 1.25mm

Two alignment screws adjust the overall intonation. The height-adjustable mounting studs include knurled bushings. The strings load from the front of the die-cast base, wrap over the back of the bridge, and over the notched saddles. Drill 7/16" (11mm) holes for the bushings.

About bridge & tailpiece measurements

Bridge and Tailpiece reference image

String spread is the distance between the centers of the outer strings on a bridge or tailpiece.

Saddle radius determines the arc formed by all the individual saddle heights, and is similar to the measurement of a fretboard.

Stud/post spacing is the distance between the centers of the mounting posts of a bridge or 'stop' tailpiece.

Tip: Slotting Tune-o-matic style saddles
Nut slotting files work great for metal saddles. Choose your file size as you would when slotting a nut: use the same gauge as the string, or a few thousandths larger. After filing to the desired depth, we suggest polishing the slot with Mitchell's Abrasive Cord to remove file marks and burrs.

Could be better

Verified Buyer

I just received this bridge and the first thing I noticed is that there is play where it sits in the posts. The will result in the bridge being tilted slightly from the string pull. Although this likely won't affect how it works it could be a little tighter.
I'm not sure the saddles are brass as someone else stated. Doesn't say that anywhere in the discription. Would be nice if they are.

The saddles on this bridge are made of zinc and are not made of brass.

Potential trouble for PRS, Zero Stars

Verified Buyer

I bought this to replace a PRS stoptail bridge on a PRS SE Custom. Although I researched and was advised that this "should be" a simple swap out, it has turned into a big hassle. The issue is NOT Stewart-MacDonald support. They have been great. The issue is that the specifications for the bridge are requiring a major rework of the product. The threaded studs had to be cut and the bottom lip required machining because they were bottoming out and pulling the bridge up. Also, the width of the female portion of the bridge stud is smaller than the corresponding PRS pieces. In short, I would advise thorough measurements for whatever brand guitar you will use this unit on. The quality of the construction, however, is excellent. It is simply not a swap out for SE Custom PRS guitars.

It's a really good bridge. I put it on my Epi Les Paul Special II (EGS1WCNH3), and I barely had to adjust anything.

A very cool & versatile way out for many guitars

I have only recently received my order for these bridges and must say I am impressed with the quality of machining & finish. Very versatile for different tops. Reasonably priced and will order them again. A great product.

Only so-so

Verified Buyer

I bought this for a LP Jr. kit project, and the quality is decent considering the price. I've never had the "original" product that this is based on so I can't say if it's the same or not, but on this kit, at least, I had to modify the inserts and posts to make the bridge sit low enough on the body to get a reasonable 12th fret clearance. I recessed the insert flanges flush with the body and turned about .04" off the bottom flange of the posts to make them screw in a little further. With everything down tight it was playable but not ideal. Thinking of grinding down the saddles now. Could have been the neck angle was not to spec, but on this particular brand of kit everything else has been spot on, so I don't know. Just a heads up for others who might be thinking of using the item, be sure you check the neck angle clearance.

a great alternative to the PRS SE bridge

I got one of these off of a friend who got it from stew mac for my PRS SE Tremonti. The PRS bridge is OK, but you are very limited on doing a setup on intonation. This bridge is similar to the old ones by Badass. It does the job. I recommend it for almost any stopbar style guitar without an adjustable bridge.

Nice bridge

Nice bridge and if you're prone to errors setting saddle location this bridge is for you, TONS of adjustment. Much better than a traditional Jr. bridge. but I still like a roller T.O.M. better.

Badass bridge

I've looked around and this is the best. The bridge is exactly what is was looking for. Very well made and the saddles are brass. The adjusting screws fit perfect so I didn't have to pull the original nuts out of the body. Super fast shipping. I am so happy. I found my store where I am buying all my guitar parts!!

didn't work for me.

Verified Buyer

Seems well made but is too tall to get the action low enough for my tastes on a Gibson Melody Maker V.

This bridge allowed me to finally get accurate intonation on my Epiphone Les Paul Jr. Special (already modified with the addition of a neck pickup). I use .009s on this guitar because I do a LOT of extreme bends (minor 3rd - fourth), so I had to do a little smoothing of the first string saddle to stop the breakage I was getting - small price to pay for great intonation!
