Details

The Mastertone-style 20-hole flathead design favored by bluegrass players since the 1940s.

Machined from cast bell-bronze alloy to pre-war dimensions, it gives a deep crisp powerful tone when the instrument is played at lower frets, with great clarity at higher positions. 11" diameter, nickel-plated.

A high crown or medium crown banjo head is usually required for this tone ring.

For optimum fit, measure the tone ring with a dial caliper before lathe-turning your wood rim.

Excellent, especially for the money

Fantastic sound - I compared my banjo (with this tone ring) to some costing over ú1000 and there was no comparison - mine was better by MILES!

A good, reliable piece of kit

No fancy specifications or hype - just a straightforward, reliable tone ring that delivers the goods every time. I use it mostly for upgrading the sound of Chinese- or Korean- produced resonator 5-strings. If they have even half-sensible rims, this StewMac ring brings out tones that the original manufacturers of the banjos probably wouldn't believe possible!
