Good Quality, Design Not the Best

By JClay from San Fernando Valley

This is the pro Gibson style armrest, no doubt there, but I find it slips down. If you want it to stay up you have to crank it so tight it bends the bracket hooks. I put a rubber tape on the facing side of the metal plate and that helps. Because the attachment plate is flat, there's not a lot of contact surface where it touches the round hook. That's why you have to tighten it so much. And the plate bends, too. Once it's up it's a nice armrest. Hint, Stew Mac, make a contact plate with rounded depressions for the hooks.

Simple Elegance

I was restoring a 5 String Banjo that I had built from a Stew Mac kit back in the 70's and was worried that this armrest would not fit correctly. It fits perfectly and its simplicity is a great match for this old banjo. I experienced a bit of a challenge while attaching the armrest.. you need 3 hands.. I solved the problem by using a cardbord shim to hold the attachment bracket in place while I turned the screw.

like all the rest of the Five Star products, this arm rest is excellent, attractive and durable. I would not use anything else

These armrests have been iffy in past years, but they are as good as they can be now. Pristine plating!

5-STAR ARMREST

Great product. When I received it I noticed it was nickel plated and polished on both sides top and bottom, not just the top. That shows very good quality.

cobalt armrest

I do cobalt plating of the plain brass armrest.I must first use an armrest with no pits or flaws of any kind, and is the same weight and quality of the pre-war gibson armrest. These fit the bill with very little prepping for plating and they look great.
