I bought this fret file after I recognized that I'm not able to made fret crowning work using self made tool (from some internet project). With this tool I finished fret crowning in 2 hours. This was my first fret levelling work and I strongly recommend buying this tool!

This is a wonderful tool Just what I needed and works as advertised. It beats trying to use the old standart flat files.

I have bought about three of these in the past year or so and every one of them are performing just as advertised. The latest I used for my home built 7 string and it fit perfectly. String height was perfect too.

An absolute must!

I highly recommend this tool!

As a novice, this tool really makes the job quite simple.

It took me about 4 frets before I got a feel for it.

Because the tool was brand new, the cut was slightly aggressive at first but my technique improved as I moved along.

Using more accurate strokes, staying as true as possible and concentrating on the file doing the work, not hand pressure.

I used this tool along with my new 3 corner medium fret file and the results were excellent. After a bit more attention in the polishing I should end up with a decent fret job. I'm thrilled to say the least.

I should mention the frets I'm working on have a very low crown and had some serious dings in the upper 1-5 frets. After a slight leveling I was left with even less of a crown but got rid of most of the dings.

So even with dealing with frets that ideally should be replaced, this tool worked incredibly well.

I'm truly inspired!
My next goal...complete refret.

Thanks so much Stew-Mac for an excellent source of information and of course quality tools. Not to mention the fast shipping and excellent customer service.

This is a good tool and fairly safe in the hands of a guitarist like myself that lives in the back of beyond and has to maintain his own guitars. Money is never wasted on a quality tool designed to the job. Thanks Stew Mac.
