Fret Rocker

About This Item

Pinpoint those pesky high frets, and check the final height after you've redressed or replaced them, reach for the Fret Rocker!

Our 4-in-1 mini straightedge spans three frets and "rocks" to indicate uneven fret heights. Precision-machined for accuracy to .0015" per foot, the 4", 3", 2" and 1-5/16" edges make it versatile for any fretted instrument, from basses to guitars to mandolins.

The Fret Rocker is made of stainless steel with a durable finish for professional use. It's an indispensable diagnostic tool, before and after partial refretting and recrowning jobs. It lets you do more accurate fret work for better playability.

Essential for Fretting
This item is 1 of the 7 tools included in our Essential Fretting Tool Set, a compilation of tools you'll need for the fundamentals of fret work. The set also includes our book, Fret Work Step-By-Step by Erick Coleman with Dan Erlewine.

I somehow went 13 years without this tool. I don't know how I did that as I now consider it a must have checking tool for quality fret jobs.

Fret Rocker is a Necessary Tool!

After putting the Fret Rocker on my Line 6 Variax, it was obvious my guitar needed to go in for fret work. It was bad! The Variax is my practice guitar, and as I'm a prolific string bender, I managed to wear the frets down (unbeknownst to me) here and there over the entire fret board. My guitar plays SO much better because I was able to detect an issue I would not really have known about. Highly recommended!

Really makes accurate fret work a lot easier.

Didn't think I needed this tool until I used it. Finds rockers easily, and with string spacers, allows spot levelling quickly.

I was chasing a buzz and thought I'd have to run the guitar in to the shop. With none nearby, this saved me some time and money. Turns out the frets are fine. For whatever reason, once I replaced the saddle, I can set the guitar up the way I like and no buzz!

A bit pricey, but well made and very useful tool. Before ordering, I was concerned that the metal thickness would not be adequate - it's perfect so no problem with that. Recommended.

I bought the Fret Rocker a few days back and used it today 4/1/17. It works great, and boy it definitely found several frets sitting a little higher. I highly recommend this tool if you are doing your own work.

Precise and neat.

Another must have for any luthier or guitar/bass tech. Don't drop it! Sharps edges and pointy ends can't cause minor cuts so I suggest you round the edges a bit and keep a flat surface in the middle. Again, a must have.

Opening a new repair shop this past year I wanted to equip myself with top notch tools (tired of home made) once and for all...StuMac truly came through with this Fret Rocker! Precision cut for any fretboard fit, I use it constantly.
