Better than nothing

By Ryan Scott from Pittsburgh, PA
(Customer's Reviews) Sunday, July 20, 2014

I bought the black and clear to fix some scratches on a Les Paul headstock. I was disappointed to find that the black was nothing more than a sharpie. It didn't match the color of the headstock very well either. I had better luck with the clear, but you have to be very careful not to let too much of it flow out. It looks better than it did, but not by much. I would skip these markers and look for a better solution.

Highly Disappointed!

-1 Star - too thin, runs like crazy
-1 Star - easy of use, the felt applicator and the check ball system is useless. Tried as told as a tip to press down on scrap to start the flow. Worked great, ONCE. Then after that it flowed like a river. Added 2 days to project because of a glob of lacquer. Need to scrap this applicator system for a small jar and paintbrushes.

color match for that little speck

makes fixing that little pin spot or even the larger spots, much easier. They only come in 5 colors but you can play with these 5 and get a close match to any instruments color.

Touch up markers

This product is OK for some applications. It seems to dry up fast in the tube so shelf life is short.

ColorTone Markers

By James E from Phoenix,Az
(Customer's Reviews) Friday, September 27, 2013

The Vintage Amber ColorTone touch up marker was not even close to the color of my 1998 Vintage Toner Top Martin 00-21GE. In addition, the clear lacquer touch up marker's wick fell out and spilled most of the nitro on the adirondack spruce guitar top. Pretty much a waste of money after the high shipping costs.

Very useful

By JB Bass from Brick, NJ
(Customer's Reviews) Thursday, June 27, 2013

These are a little pricey but the colors match well to many guitar finishes. Do yourself a favor and read the excellent StewMac tutorial on drop filling chips with clear finish. These markers used with Stewmac medium superglue and polishing papers can work wonders once you've mastered the technique of filling and polishing out chips. Some reviewers complained they won't fill chips. That's not what they are for but they can hide minor blems very well.

Just a magic marker

By SKULLTOWER from New York, NY

I was disappointed that the product was just a magic marker. It also looked very dull.

they do the job

By Stephen Wells from Wethersfield, CT
(Customer's Reviews) Wednesday, February 13, 2013

These things come in handy, not just for touching up scratches in old guitars, but in evening out finishing blunders. I even made a passible tortoise binding to replace a 3/4 inch missing section. I used the tobacco brown, the cherry red and the red mahogany with layers of super glue and a lot of sanding.

Flaw Repaired!

By JEV1A from Florida, USA
(Customer's Reviews) Sunday, January 27, 2013

I received a "gifted" Guitar that had a small flaw in the Body. A dent so I used a clear touchup marker and after 3 fills, its basically gone.. you have to look through a Loupe to see it! Good stuff!

GREAT PRODUCT

By Turko from San Diego
(Customer's Reviews) Friday, December 14, 2012

These are really excellent. Easy to use, and a life saver for minor dings and imperfections, or just to "age" a new part with a hint of amber.
