Preservation Polish

About This Item

Silicone-free and repair shop friendly, with no wax or silicone residues. 12-ounce bottle.

Preservation Polish gently cleans, polishes and protects lacquer and varnish finishes.

Ordinary guitar polishes shine by leaving a long-lasting silicone residue that's very hard to remove. If your guitar ever needs a repair, the silicone will prevent glue or finish from adhering, making even simple repairs more difficult and costly.

Simply apply Preservation Polish with a clean cotton cloth. It leaves no wax or silicone residues, so there's no cloudy film, stickiness or build-up. And it won't discolor the patina of vintage finishes.

Luthiers and repair shops: You've learned the hard way that guitars and silicone are bad company. Silicone residue makes it difficult for glue or finish to adhere properly and is a primary cause of "fisheyes" and cratering in lacquer finishes. It's even worse if silicone reaches bare wood or gets into the cracks of older finishes. Even the simplest finish repairs can become more difficult, time-consuming and costly. Do your colleagues a favor — use Preservation Polish and recommend it to your customers!

I bought this because I play outside. I play 3 hours at a time at Farmer's Markets. My guitar gets sweaty with sun tan lotion etc. After one application and playing in 90 degree weather for 3 hours, I was able to wipe off the haze fairly easy. I am giving it a "Good" for now.

Amazing Product!

I bought this to clean up and shine the wooden parts on my 1927 Vega Artist model tenor banjo. Wow! Cleans and polishes beautifully! 90 years of grime gone.

Next, I used it on the resonator of an inexpensive student- level banjo, with very little finish.
Wow! It even brought out the richness and flame of this instrument.

This is simply the best cleaner/polisher I've ever used!

even after vigorous shaking, it still seemed watered down. The shine and polish from plain old carnuba wax was superior.

Having A high profile shop we cannot use anything but the best of everything. You can actually feel it drag as it cleans. There it is on the rail.

I have three acoustic guitars which are finished in nitrocellulose lacquer and this polish makes them all look as good as they can. The bottle is big enough to last me a very long time.

Great Polish!

I purchased this polish as a promoted item (20% off) since I needed something to polish my guitars, and my old polish was, well, really old (decades old...). No silicone, a great and effective product, a great size, a nice price! Thanks! Completely satisfied (3 for 3)!

The finish on my '68 Gibson EB3 wias ruined by my sweating forearm while playing in the 100= degree weather in Folsom, CA .. a friend had recommended using your Preservation Polish. Well, I have and am very happy with the results - i have applied several times and the dullness and deterioration is going away. I am not done - I will keep applying as your instructions say to do.

This stuff is the Bee's Knee's. I use it on all 16 of my guitars, fret board, head stock, you name it. I was a little panicked when StewMac ran out...glad it's back in stock. It gets rid of all manner of gunk, hides minor scratches, and leaves a beautiful shine. Makes the guitar case smell good too. I find it works better in a spray bottle but that's just me. My 2004 MIJ Epiphone Elitist "Tak Matsumoto" Les Paul.
