CTS Control Pots

About This Item

CTS pots have long been the first choice in American guitars. CTS pots from StewMac have even more to like: closer tolerances and longer life!

We've specified these CTS pots to feature a longer-life brass shaft and tighter ±10% resistance tolerance compared to CTS products offered by most other suppliers.

CTS precision audio taper gives you smoother and more accurate response than you'll get with economy pots. Crank your guitar up to 10 and the volume swells all the way—no abrupt flattening to choke your playing style.

Available with split shaft for fine-knurled (24-spline) knob, or with smooth shaft to fit a set-screw knob. A long-shaft 500K-ohm version fits Les Paul style carved-top solidbodies.

Each CTS pot includes a flat washer, lock washer, and two hex mounting nuts for custom height adjustment on a pickguard or control plate.

Which pot value should you choose?
500K pots are standard controls for humbuckers, and 250Ks are usually used for single-coil pickups. A 250K gives a slightly warmer tone than a 500K, and bleeds off (attenuates) some of the high frequencies to ground.

Replacement Mounting Nuts and Lock Washers are also available.

Great for Import Strats!

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I tried fitting another pot in my import Strat. Somehow they were too tight to fit in the cavity area. Then i ordered these CTS pots from Stewmac. Perfeito!!. Fits the Import Strats with ease. The pots are smooth and clear in operation.

Heavey dutie pot!

By
(Customer's Reviews)

These pots are the most solidly built I have yet used. Smooth operation and great volume control all the way to the top. Buyer be informed!!! If you intend to use these pots as a replacement for another, measure the length of the shaft and diameter of the shaft as well. To a more experienced luthier this may go without saying but I had to widen the whole in an import guitar to accommodate the CTS pot. Not a big deal. However, I would not have done that to a Gibson Les Paul for instance. No way!!!

Great Pot

The CTS Control Pots work great, if installed correctly. I have read some negative reviews, that may be due to poor soldering technique, or bad wiring. I have had no issues with the pots from Stew Mac.

Good but

By
(Customer's Reviews)

I installed these and after about 3-6 months I had to take them apart and clean them. I don't know what happened but they got scratchy and made noise when you turned them. they also had some dead spots in them but I got them working again.

Replace your cheap pots!

I replaced the stock pots in my Epiphone with these and can definitely hear the difference. The tone knobs work much better along with the Orange Drop .22 capacitors I also got from Stew Mac. First purchase, one of my best. New favorite site.
