CTS Control Pots

CTS pots have long been the first choice in American guitars. CTS pots from StewMac have even more to like: closer tolerances and longer life!

We've specified these CTS pots to feature a longer-life brass shaft and tighter ±10% resistance tolerance compared to CTS products offered by most other suppliers.

CTS precision audio taper gives you smoother and more accurate response than you'll get with economy pots. Crank your guitar up to 10 and the volume swells all the way—no abrupt flattening to choke your playing style.

Available with split shaft for fine-knurled (24-spline) knob, or with smooth shaft to fit a set-screw knob. A long-shaft 500K-ohm version fits Les Paul style carved-top solidbodies.

Each CTS pot includes a flat washer, lock washer, and two hex mounting nuts for custom height adjustment on a pickguard or control plate.

Which pot value should you choose?
500K pots are standard controls for humbuckers, and 250Ks are usually used for single-coil pickups. A 250K gives a slightly warmer tone than a 500K, and bleeds off (attenuates) some of the high frequencies to ground.

Replacement Mounting Nuts and Lock Washers are also available.

Why use anything else? Not tapered back like the old ones but still the best

Simply the best readily available pots out there. These also have the closest tolerance generally available (+/- 10%). Stew Mac's customer service is exceptional. You can find nearly everything they sell for less a lot of places but the personalized service sets them apart.

Never had a problem with a single one of these. Occasionally they can feel a little "gritty" but that's soon fixed.

Smooth, but rather stiff. The quality is great.

CTS pots used as replacements in a Jerry Jones baritone guitar. No more noise! Look forward to years of quiet with CTS.

The best for the Harlequaster!

I wouldn't use anything else. I used the longer shaft (Les Paul type) for this build as it has a thicker top. 500k to suit the Gibson mini-bucker, Fender Hot Alnico at bridge sounds great too.

I have just replace my stock Ibanez Prestige pots with the CTS pots. I didn't expect much but man, what a change!! Needless to say I have now much more control over the volume but also my sound got some extra clarity. Excellent product! Definitely recommended!

These are really good pots. I hope that StewMac uses these in future kits as they are so much better than Alphas!
