Ceramic Caps for Guitar

About This Item

Our most popular capacitors; they get the job done at a great price.
Pack of 10.

Capacitors are energy-storage devices that filter the high frequencies. A cap lets the tone control roll off the treble response, progressively warming the tone. The higher the value, the more bass output from the tone control at its "zero" setting.

A cap wired to a potentiometer creates a standard tone control, as explained in this Article: How a tone control works.

Value Code Common use
180pF 181 PRS Treble bleed
.001uF 102 Common Treble bleed
.022uF 223 Humbucker tone
.047uF 473 Single-coil guitars, many basses
.100uF 104 Basses and certain eras of vintage Fender guitars

THESE SOUND GREAT!!

WHAT CAN I SAY? I don't really hear any difference between these @ the more expensive caps. I'll continue to use O.D's in my better guitars but I have no doubt these do the job just as well @ at a fraction of the price. Maybe its a matter of "time will tell"....but.. replacing a cap is no biggie after all. I'm glad I bought these @ made the comparison. GOOD VALUE! in my opinion.

I actually ordered these by mistake. I wanted the drop caps but I didn't want to wait since I was all set to replace the pots. Not sorry I used them. The trim on the treble is real smooth and so much better than what was on there. Plus I have plenty of extras!!

These caps sound great in my mahogany laminate 335 style guitar. On a maple 335 style, one may prefer a PIO or Orange drop. Just experiment, as all these Cap varieties have an influence on sound and feel.
