Indispensable reference work

(Customer's Reviews)

There's a good reason this book was reissued a few times. Originally, I got the 2nd version and it was so good that I acquired the next 3rd release when it went out for sale.

Everything in this book says about the vast experience of the author behind this work. I keep turning to it every time I need to fix something. The solution might be something simple that is easy to come up with on my own but it's always nice to consider the other options as well - it's like having a personal counselor luthier with me all the time. Besides, there may be situations when this books spares you from making expensive mistakes - it's better to learn from somebody else's, right?

Overall, a necessary addition for every instrument maker/repair person or a player who wants to know what it takes to make a quality repair or set-up.

A must have!

(Customer's Reviews)

Truly a great book!!
As a guy that is going into Luthiery and who has asked quite a few people about books and tools, they all have mentioned this book! There is so much in it and links to other books and schools........a must have!

Nothing else like this book

(Customer's Reviews)

If you're even semi-interested in guitar building and repair, this is a must have.

"Very Informative"

Simply a good read

(Customer's Reviews)

Although not "fully" detailed on "everything" regarding guitars the details that are included make this a fantastic reference and an enjoyable read.

(Customer's Reviews)

Being a guitar player of MANY years, but never one to get too into the mechanics of the instrument itself, I was blown away by this guide. So much information, easy to read, it really brakes down the many perceptions I had of the "voodoo" surrounding guitar maintenance and repair. I contains more information than I'll probably ever use, but y'never know.

Thanks for a great tool!

Required Reading

(Customer's Reviews)

Every guitar player should own and read this book. Even if you never plan on opening your own shop, there is so much good information for maintenance, repair, and upgrades that this should be required reading. Especially for those of you who play every weekend and do your own maintenance and setup, because, like me, you don't have your own guitar tech yet. This book will pay for itself if you only avoid the repair shop once.
