The wood is of realy good quality. It was also long enough to shape the end a little.

Fretboards, and then some!!!

I have used Stew Mac's fretboards (along with tons of other supplies and Hardware) on the last 2 guitars that I built and I am extremely happy with the quality of EVERYTHING I have purchased from Stew Mac. From the binding, to the Golden Age pick ups, to the fingerboards. I can't say enough about them. The tech line also has been very helpful. If you are looking to build a guitar or fix up an old one laying around look no further. Stew Mac has supplied about 85% of the items on my last 2 guitars built from scratch. (see pic) Plus luthier tools to build them and I could not be happier. Thumbs up Stew Mac!!!

Ebony Fretboard

By Denis G. from USA
(Customer's Reviews) Tuesday, October 22, 2013

I was quite disappointed with the ebony fretboard. The figure was OK but had serious problems with chipping when trimming and cutting fret slots - band saw and fret saw are fairly new, so that was not the issue. I have worked with ebony several times before without any problems (blanks WERE NOT from StewMac). Since I had problems with ebony (and was virtually impossible to glue all the chips back) I decided to buy rosewood so I can finish my project. I will update the comment once I work with rosewood.

quality fretboards

By Dave Hickman from Alexandria, TN
(Customer's Reviews) Friday, December 07, 2012

I ordered 2 fretboards a few days ago and when I opened the box I couldn't believe the quality of the boards. One in ebony and one was a slotted rosewood. They had the straightest grain I've ever seen on fretboards. The thickness was substantial too. If you need fretboards, StewMac has the best. Thanks, Dave

Better than I expected.

Seems like I got a hand-selected, first grade piece of wood for less than what I pay for an inferior piece on eBay. Dimensions and condition were perfect - a real joy to work with.
