VERY easy to apply and forgiving. I brushed the first thin coat on expecting to have a lot of sanding to do afterward...WRONG! On drip was all that I had and sanding was a breeze. Second coat was reduced 50-50 and sprayed on. Easy as pie and no runs on my fiddle. One more coat after I do the inlays and I'll be ready for my Behlen lacquer finish
After i started using a decent compressor, the stuff was brilliant. Thinned it 50-50. Before that it looked like I blew snot all over the guitar...
Good but expensive with shipping.
Haven't quite figured this stuff out, but it seems to work fine as a prep/primer under the stringed instrument nitro.
Not a drip run or error, really straight forward product. Used three coats after grain plugging, with a nitro topcoat. A northern ash strat body and all is good. This sealer was smooth and did real well for me.
Great product from Behlen! Doesn't need thinning either.
This material is the best sealer I've ever used. It goes on nicely and will sand to a powder in a half hour. The shrink rate is very modest. When laid on, then wet sanded after an hour, it will generally fill the grain. Another light coat and the guitar is ready for lacquer. Care must be taken to tumble the can gently by hand to disperse the solids and not introduce bubbles.
I have been using Belin Vinal Sealer for years.I mix it with the liquid dyes to spray transparent color instrument for either touch up or the whole instrument.Once mixed and if any is stored in small jars for future touch up,it tends to break down in a few months.I assume it is the vinyl that gets clumpy and when mixed,it does not disolve. This can really do a number on a spray gun or air brush.Other wise it works good.Another thing I like about it is the fact that it is more transparent than the sanding sealer that I have used forever.
So when I am doing a burst I use the vinyl as I know there wil not be that hint of milkyness.I also use it as the top coat for touch up on those new guitars with the extremely flat finishes. It seems to blend better than the regular flat top coat and with a little Micro Mesh it looks just like the rest of the finish.
I just used the Behlen Vinyl Sealer for the first time and absolutely love it. I will never finish another guitar or neck without it. The product sprayed on perfect and gave my necks a great feel. I also used it as a base coat for the nitrocellulose finish on my guitar bodies and I was equally pleased. All luthiers should try this product. Happy building!
