Easy to install. Easy to wire. Just what I needed. So I bought 2!
This switch fits in the Telecaster body, unlike other 5 pole switches intended for Strats. The quality seems identical to several other 4 pole switches from various sources, but this is a bit slimmer than the others. Works beautifully so far.
I like the super switch a lot. It gives me a lot of wiring flexibility that I could not get otherwise. My only gripe is that, for some of my projects, I either need a switch that has more than 4 divisions, or I need a switch - just like the super switch (with 4 divisions) - that ALSO provides the same positions 2 and 4 as a standard Strat switch (in pos 2 shorts 1 & 2, in pos 4 shorts 4 & 5). I have one humbucker combination I'm trying to wire right now that 'stumped the Super Switch'. Still a good little switch, but I want to be able to hook each wire of two humbuckers to it's own division (total 8 wires). And....you have to admit, for the quality level, it is a little pricey.
On first look, i tought it would be complicated to wire this complex-like thing but in the end it was really easy! thanx to stew-mac instruction!
Good Switch so far. The only problem I get was the screws too short to fix it on wood directly. Except that it is working perfect
I installed this on my RG7420 because I place a couple of Seymour Duncan Distortion, the install was really easy, the thing is that it feels cheap compared to the stock switch I replaced, for the price I exprected a bit more quality. Shipping was amazing fast Kudos!!
This switch is really easy to install for Seymour Duncan pickups, but looks and feels kind of cheap for the price I expected a better quality vs the stock switch my RG7420 had.
I haven't found a better 5-way lever-switch than this that can handle extremely-custom wiring combinations.
The lever has the right amount of tension and makes a positive "click" into each position for flawless changes in live-use.
I use this mostly for people who don't like the stock tones on a Strat.
With this switch, my favorite use is:
3: Neck/Bridge (Sounds like a Tele)
5: Middle+Bridge, in series (Brian May Sounding Humbucker)
Seemed sturdy initially but after few moths of moderate use the lever has play around the axis. Hence the switch stands between two positions i.e. on mute, when the lever has locked in on a position.
Lo ordené para ponerlo en una Ibañez de serie S (cuerpo ultra delgado) y aunque de inicio no cupo (sobresalía de la cavidad de los controles), haciendo algunas adecuaciones quedó perfecto.
