Luthier John Bogdanovich has prepared this helpful set of full-scale 48" x 24" plans, with a clear acetate bracing pattern, to accompany his excellent book Classical Guitar Making. The plans display detailed dimensions for building a nylon-string fan-braced concert guitar with Spanish heel block, plus additional measurements not found in the reduced-size book diagrams. The guitar has 650mm (25.591") scale length, and 53mm (2.087") nut width.
Drawing 1 displays dimensions for the fan-braced soundboard, back and body cross-section, plus the bridge and soundhole rosette.
Drawing 2 includes dimensions for the headstock and neck, plus fret spacings and binding specifications. Helpful patterns have been drawn for the sides and for making radiused sanding dishes.
Clear acetate bracing pattern allows easy positioning on the underside of the soundboard and back. Simply poke tiny holes through the acetate into the wood, and connect the dots with a pencil for accurate brace layouts.
