A loose nut on a 1/4" jack is trouble. It's no fun to watch the jack disappear into your guitar or amp as the nut falls off, or to break a solder connection when you tighten the nut and the jack turns with it.

Designed by veteran repairman Frank Ford, Jack The Gripper is a smart tool that can save you a lot of time and work. Insert it into the jack, and the knurled cam locks in either direction, to hold the jack firmly while you tighten or loosen the nut.

Recessed jack? No problem—the tool also includes a clever steel adapter handle for use with your 3/8" square drive socket.

Instructions included.

Old problem solved in a fraction of the time...

Dealing with loose jack nuts has been the bane of my guitar playing life: unscrew the jack plate, while trying not to wreck the thread on the screws or slip and ruin the guitar finish. Struggle to get a thin wrench on the inside nut, keep it there while you tighten the outside nut and then reverse the process.
Although expensive [for people with my sort of income], Jack the Gripper works perfectly and, when you think of the potential for damaging your guitar in such a simple operation, it is definitely money well spent. It is also up to the usual Stew Mac standard, so should give you years of dedicated service.

How to make life simple.

Buy one! Use it. Kick yourself for not having bought it sooner!

EXTREMELY useful tool

How did I work without this? Like the ESP Spanner, I often wonder why you would NOT own one after using it. Installing/replacing jacks on Teles alone make it worthwhile--never mind the headaches I have prevented while working on semi-hollows and hollows (Gretsch, Gibson ES, etc).

Could not recommend more highly.
