Peghole Reamers

I needed to enlarge some tuner holes on a build. I first used sandpaper wrapped around a pen. Didn't work too well. I caved and bought this. It's expensive but worked like a charm. Perfect round holes. You need to go gently and check your fit often. It takes material off quickly.

I decided to change the friction tuners on an old tenor banjo. This reamer made the task very easy. I had never replaced tuning pegs before and I found this tool made doing so easy.

Love this tool, it cuts super cleanly and is razor sharp. Perfect for ukulele tuners! My only complaint (and this is minor) is that I would like a bit more shank length between the handle and the top of the cutting blade - it's a bit cramped at the top for those of us with large hands and I end up cutting my fingers now and then.

I purchased the standard reamer as I could not find a general tool which could do the job to the necessary accuracy. I also couldn't be sure more precise tools, not specifically for luthier use, were right for this specific application. This tool is right for the job. My preferred tuners are Grover Sta-tite 18:1 and the bushes need an accurately tapered hole to ensure a secure fit. Conversely if the hole is too tight the bush could split the headstock. Whilst expensive in absolute terms in comparison to similar items from other suppliers these are reasonably priced and therefore cost effective.

I used to work with normal reamers so I know how great those are. You really get a nice, clean, round hole with these.

I found this tool to be easy to use (never having used one before) and happily it worked perfectly in fitting tuners. All five worked perfectly.

I have no idea how you could do without these and do a quality job.

This baby really makes a difference! No more wobbly edged holes. It does exactly what it's supposed to do.

This reamer does a fine job and makes consistently tight fits on the Stew-Mac violin pegs. It is easy to use and I recommend it!
